My 1989 Jeep Cherokee will turn over fine, then stalls out...

My 1989 Jeep Cherokee will turn over fine, then stalls out like it is not getting gas. There were bare wires under the glove box in the dash and they may have shorted something down there. Is it possible the ECM was blown an dhow do I check it???
