Hello,

I live in Texas. I bought a 4 month old Yorkie 3 weeks ago when a Texas breeder drove to Louisiana to get the dog from her Louisiana Breeder friend. So I bought the dog sight unseen and picked the dog up from the Texas breeder. His fur is totally gone on the bottom part of his body after I have had him for three weeks. And there is no fur under the top coat to fill in. Our puppy now looks like a chemo patient. We are not sure what is wrong with him.

The puppy will come to us when we call him. But he will not let us pick him up without running from us. We can’t figure out why he runs from us. We treat the puppy with love and affection. He does not like to be held at all. We paid $1,500 for his puppy and were told from the breeder in Louisiana that he was from a championship breed; however we are not allowed to breed the male dog because he was too small to breed. The puppy is 1 pound and they said that he would only get 2 pounds. When I got him, he had 2 ear infections and a bacteria infection in his ear. I found that out after I took the dog to the vet within a week. I took the dog in to get his last puppy shot, however the vet would not give him the shot because he was sick with the infections. I think we have a major health issue on our hands and can’t figure out what it is. Can you help us figure out why a Yorkie would lose his fur totally on his stomach and legs at age 4 months old?

We feed the dog Pro Plan puppy food and bath him with the finest dog products. We called the breeder and she wants to blame the lose of fur on our dog shampoo, even though it was a product that she recommended called Hylite Shampoo. Right! Then the breeder said well it must be the puppy food that you are feeding him. We are feeding him what she fed him. So that can’t be the problem. I think I need to find a Yorkie Groomer or Vet in the Dallas area that specializes in small breed Yorkies. Do you know how I can find a specialist? We love the dog despite his quirkiness, but hope that we don’t have major health issue on our hands. The only health issue that we were told that the dog had was hypoglycemia. So far we have not seen the dog have that.

Please help.
