My black lab is 9 months old and has not yet gone into heat.  What is the typical age for her to go into heat?  I live in Alabama and it has been in the mid 90's for a month or so.  Could the heat be a factor?

That can vary greatly dog to dog. It can be as late as 12 - 15 months. You can see my dog at .:. http://www.edog.org

My blacklab was over a year and she had not gone into heat... The vet said not to worry, it may not happen untill she is atleast 1 1/2 yrs old. if she is very active that could have an affect. Mine was a hunting dog, so she was very active. Don't worry it will come sooner or later

I have been breeding labradors for about 4 years now and the usual age for them to go into heat is about 8 to 12 months..but thats  a good thing if the female does not go into heat because AKC wont register them unless they're 8 months or older!

My first lab was like clockwork.....every six months.  She passed away and I kept a pup from her last litter...at eleven months still no signs of going into heat.  I spoke with owners of pups from that last litter and they say the same thing.  Any reason to be concerned?
