My alarm keeps going off when I open the door, car will not...

My alarm keeps going off when I open the door, car will not start. How do I turn off alarm?  My manual does not say anything about the alarm.  I have a 97 Rav4, it came with a remote key and has a green, black and red button but the remote quit working several months ago. Thanks for any help, need my car for work and hate to wait until Monday to contact the dealer.

Open the door, ignore alarm. Pull the bonnet release lever and open the bonnet. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, and THEN go about finding the alarm unit, and unplug it. You should be able to work in silence after 30 seconds or so.
