Cockers are especially prone to ear infections because the floppy ears make the inside damp. Your dog needs professional help. My vet gave my spaniel an ointment for her ear  infection and it has since cleared . Do dry the ear with an ear cleanser you can get from the pet supply shops.

I took my Cocker to the vet for a pretty bad ear infection. He gave him a steroid shot, Ear flush (you can buy at any pet shop for around 11.99) and a topical ointment. You must make sure that you clean the ear canal out as much as possible before you flush the ears.I learned my lesson as a first time cocker owner how important it is to keep my dogs ears immaculate!!! Especially if you have a Cocker.

I found this remedy on the internet not too long ago.  It works great.  Mix together...
5.5 oz. rubbing alcohol
1/2 T powdered Boric Acid
2.5 oz. vinager
  Shake well  then add
1 t. Betadine anticeptic
Shake ... Mix this in one of those bottles like you use to color your hair.  Pour some in the dogs ear and rub the ear so it gets in there.  To treat an infection, do this once a day for 2 weeks.  To avoid infections use it once every 1 or 2 weeks. All these ingredients you can get from the pharmacy

http://www.zimfamilycockers.com/EarCleaner.html

I found this site while searching for help with my Cockers' ears.  The ointments from the vets don't seem to help my male.  Although, my female has far fewer problems than he.  I hope it helps.
