What is the mission and overall structure of the AKC?

I couldn't tell you that but I could advise you not to go with them. All breeders I have talked to that work with them hate their service and standards and are switching. They were so bad that we switched too. APR has great service and we love working with them. To AKC you are just one costumer in a million and don't matter much. They will have to up their standards and service if they are to compete with APR. You are seeing more and more people switching. That is just my advice for you to stay out of hassle.
