I have two cats. One is the mother, who we rescued about a little over half a year ago. When we rescued her, we found out she was pregnant. We gave away all the kittens but one. So we have the mother, and the youngest kitten. Their relationship never had any problems, but lately every time the baby would come near her mother, the mom would just hiss and then attack her. The mom is constantly in heat with breaks of only a few days between, we think this might have something to do with her attacking her baby. The mom is about a year and a half, the baby is a litter over half a year old. Does anyone know why she is attacking her baby? and/or what we can do to stop it?
