What should we expect to pay for a Manx cat? I have looked at many websites and done many searchs, but have not seen any prices. A price range would be helpful. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, SS

Hi: I found some sites that give tentative pricing with the Manx cat, along with info on the breed.
One is:
petplace.com

Also, search for The Cat Fancier's Association (CFA)'s website, which is the place breeders show their cats.

My mother purchased a white registered male this past weekend and paid $300 for him.  He has sisters that the owners were asking $400 for.

As a Manx breeder, let me say that most people do not post a firm price for kittens because circumstances of each sale may be different.  No breeder I know would presume to state a price on behalf of another breeder; each of us sets his/her own price scale, but we do talk with one another and have an idea of what others charge.  Expect to pay more for a kitten that is already spayed/neutered (some breeders do this, for various reasons) - cost of that would be "built in" to the total.  Any fully guaranteed pedigreed cat's breeder takes into consideration the costs of health care and raising the kitten to the age of 16 weeks (the earliest most reputable breeders allow their kittens to go to new homes) before setting a price.  Check with your vet about the costs of early shots and exams, and check on the prices of premium foods, and you will have some idea of what to expect.  Sometimes kittens had to be born with c-sections, and those operations do not come cheaply; it would be unrealistic, however, for a breeder to base a kitten cost on that particular extra, since most people would not pay that much for their pet.  Instead, costs are sort of "averaged out" when setting kitten prices.  An expectation of a purchaser of any kitten is that the kitten will continue to receive the same care and attention that it got through the early months of its life; for a buyer to make statements that they "can't afford" a price a breeder has set leads the breeder to believe that his/her kitten is better off NOT going to that home, as if they can't pay the asking cost, they are certainly not going to pay the care costs throughout the cat's life.  We want the best home for our carefully hand-raised and gently nurtured kittens we can find; sometimes asking price is how we know we will be placing a kitten correctly.

It is unfortunate that some breeders think that if you are not willing to spend a lot of money on a pet then you would not be willing to take care of it. How absurd. I would advise going to another breeder that are truly concerned about the home that the feline will be living in and not adding zeros on the their account balances

I was a lucky person who rescued a manx from a neglected home.  I didn't have to pay for her but I've seen some kittens go for 350 and a lady offered me 100 for mine (couldn't think of selling! she's my baby!) No matter how much you pay for yours is well worth it.  After she became used to me and my husband we wouldn't trade her for the world.

I have a white manx w/ tan siamese markings on her face and she had 3 little kittens. They all are adorable boys and are all very different. One looks exactly like her, one is tiger striped(dark brown and tan)and the other is jet black. We're going to give them to the humane society for adoption. They're a rare breed and you never know where you can find them for a good price.

I was fortunate to find a Manx with no owner and she is beautiful. I read of many breeds to find out there price and I have seen them go between $200 to $400. I told my mom that and she said that we should sell her, but I wouldn't get rid of her for all the money in the world!!! She is like my best friend.  But she recently had a liter of kittens and I told my mom that she might can sell those.  This is the 5th liter and she's only 3 years old!!

I recently inherited two kittens from a friends who cats had a relatively small litter, three kittens in total and only one born with a tail. The Manx gene is dominant but Manx can be born with Long tail, Short tail, Stubs, just an extension of the spine or no tail at all. The Breeder didn't know they were Manx and neither did I until I came home and researched them. I came home with two. I just couldn't let one of them go to the pound. One is black and white, blue eyes with no tail at all. Her name is Aldo. The other is a somewhat of a Calico, white black and orange with green eyes and just a little extension of the spine. Both of them are eligible to be show cats and compete. However I typically wouldn't bother with such events. The costs I have seen have been pretty much the same as what other users have posted here. 300-400, depending on whether they have been fixed and given their shots. Also the different form of Manx.. meaning the tailless or length of their tail placed variation to the price. I've seen someone ask 500 for their tailless kitten. Pets have become so much a part of peoples lives (like children) its no longer inexpensive. You have to be financially stable and dedicated to take in a pet. I got my two for free.. when I found out what they were worth I called my friend and asked if she would like payment. She wasn't aware of what she could have earned from these cats. Fortunately for me, she said the fact that they have a good home is payment enough. If only everyone had that mentality =)

I have a manx cat in which I found at a shelter and I paid $65 for him. When I got him I had no idea how much people would pay for him. The only reason why I had to pay was because I got him from a shelter.
If you are looking for one still try an animal shelter or looking on-line thats how I came across my Manx
