i have a beautiful blue doberman 2 years old...his breeder gave me some good advice that i keep up...when a bump appears on the skin, break a vitamin e capsule and rub it into the spot...get  'sea meal ' vitamins for him (the best) and give this everyday...once a week or twice, put salmon or sardines in his food...alternated with fresh plain yogurt...
give him by mouth a capsule of  flax seed oil each or every other day...brush his coat to stimulate circulation often...too much shampooing is very bad....this should be done maybe twice a year with a very mild dog shampoo like that sold by jb pet wholsalers...my boy has no skin problem...his coat is thin, but shiny and even...you can e-mail me for conversation...LaIrlandesa@aol.com

I have had a male blue doberman who had his coat looking very similar to what you are explaining and he ended up getting his skin biopsied to confirm his condition.  He was diagnosed with color mutant alopecia.  It made his hair fall out, acne type pustuals on his coat, and irritated puffy skin.  It was a battle at times, but would be treated with steroids.  His coat would get better and his skin would grow back in.  The sun seemed to help and many rub downs with ointments and bag balm.  Elvis - my dear dog, was cherished and had a great disposition, although he had this serious condition.

Thank you so much for the information.  I have a 1 1/2 yr old Dobie with the above skin condition.  I have received minimal information from my vets regarding his skin problems, and are at my wits end trying to help him.  At least now I have some good place to start Thank you
