I purchased a 1993 Plymouth Voyager with the 3+ Overdrive trany with 140K miles. The trans would kick down (sometimes) to limp home mode upon deceleration. A reset cure was to close the engine off for a while. After a 5 quart oil exchange (ATF3) and filter, the trans worked fine for about one week.  Now it sporadicly malfunctions again always being able to reset by shut of/on. I noticed when the problems happens it shifts down hard and locks in.
