My one and a half year old, male golden retriever has been having a lot of small bumps throughout his body.  They are mostly on his chest, legs, but also noticed a couple by his eye's and ears.  What the heck is going on.  I just spent around two hundred dollars on taking him to the vet with hot spots.  He was medicated and at the time I had mentioned about the bumps.  Well the bumps are small, like a insect bite size. The large area that was shaved (under arm pit) and medicated and is healed now, but is now dark, but doesn't bother him. Are these small bumps hot spots ?  PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG.

we went round and round with our golden and the "hot spots", we cooked, we medicated and
so many other things - it turned out when we
treated for fleas - though we never say any
on him (he was bathed every week) and played
in the hose with my husband almost daily.
but it was fleas. give it a try
good luck - they are the greatest dogs

Your dog may have allergies. I have a friend who spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure out what was wrong with her dog because he was covered in small bumps on his chest, legs, belly, and head. He was treated for mange mites, fleas, and nothing ever helped. He was then taken to a dermatologist and was diagnosed with allergies. They ran tests to find out what he was allergic to and he was allergic to dust. The bumps move around. They usually stay in between his toes. his chest, and on his ears. There are many things that your dog can be allergic to. He can even be allergic to his own dog food. If so he will have to be put on potato food. Take him to a animal dermaltologist. I believe this is what he needs.
