Due to its size and strength and being the largest of all dogs the english mastiff must come out on top.Leopards cant beat lions because they are smaller enough said.

The best fighter is not a mastiff at all.It is the American Pitbull Terrier and on occassion a good game Airedale Terrier, both breeds have defeated wolverines.Of the Pitbulls,i have heard that the Irish one's are the best,Red rednosed old country. The ancient Romans, who had all manner of dogs and animals fight, had great respect for the original Irish Wolfhound but todays dogs are recreations they are not true Irish Wolfhounds.

I would have to say the Old English or the South African Boerboel. both are huge (up to 200lbs)and both are very quick for their size. The Boerboel was specifically bred to repel lions and take down "hold" large prey.

I do not see the importance of this question, I breed English Mastiffs and believe me you would never want to see a fight between mastiffs.
