I adopted 2 kittens through the local humane society.  One 4 mo. old was diagnosed with FIP and had to be euthanized.  We still have the other kitten now 3 mo. old (not related and straight out of foster care) that shared the same litter box and food dishes as the FIP positive kitten.  We want to get another kitten to befriend the one that is left.  Is there a time period we should wait before getting another kitten?  What are the chances that the kitten we currently have is FIP positive, and if we were to bring another kitten into the house (after cleaning and throwing out the litter box) would it be at high risk to contract FIP?

I'm too sure about that, but I could find out for you. I'll ask the local vet. I'll let you know soon. Promise.
