I know that black pugs are harder to find but the rarest I know of is an apricot color.  I've never heard of there being a white pug.  Sorry I couldn't help more.

Thanks for your reply Rowie. My brother said that solid black pugs are rare. He has a young solid black pug named Misha. My other brother said he saw a solid white pug when he was watching  something on tv. All dogs are special. I was just curious. Also little Misha is always hungry. I have also heard that pugs like to over eat. Is that true? My little Misha is kind of greedy.

Pugs do over-eat! It is very hard to get a pugs weight down once it is overweight. Pugs will typically always act hungry even if they've just eaten. Be careful not to overfeed them.

Thanks for the reply Rosalie:). I thought pugs were always hungry. You should see Misha's  little face when she is trying to get table food. soooo adorable , especially her eyes. I actually think pugs ,like babies  look rather cute just a "bit" chubby. I know not to get her  obese but she'll look cute with some "baby fat" on her. Take care:)

There are white pugs, my breeder had 2 in her history.  Black pugs are not that rare.  I have one and our breeder has several each year.

We have a white pug named Sophie.
She is not albino, her eyes are dark brown. She has no mask to speak of, however, she does have the pug wrinkles, weighs 12 lbs, and is 8 months old. We are told she is very rare....anyone else have a white pug?

Pugs come in fawn, silver, apricot, & black. There are also pugs that are brindle. The Brindle pugs started out as Boston terrier/pug crosses, but if you breed the Boston/pugs back to a full blooded pug 5xs, they become full blooded pugs again, and AKC will register them. Brindle pugs are pretty rare, and expensive.
Solid black pugs aren't that hard to find. But finding a black pug with good bone structure is. Most black pugs tend to be more long legged, where as i prefer shorter stocky looking pugs.

Here in B.C. (Canada) there are many black pugs available.  Fawn and apricot fawn coloured Pugs seem to be more popular.  I would not consider black pugs "rare" at all.  If you check out a typical web-site for "dog breeds" and then choose "pugs" you'll find some helpful info. concerning the Pug breed.  I own a 1 1/2 year old female Pug that is creamy white with a hint of a beige mask on her face.  This colouring is not the standard for the breed & would be considered "rare" and I suppose "undesirable" for a breeder.  We love our Pug & think she's gorgeous just the way she is!

Hi, I breed and I am starting to show pugs and I can tell you, black pugs are NOT rare!!  Don't let someone tell you they are.  They are very common and can be found often.  In fact, if someone were to try to sale you a black pug for more because it was "rare" they would be lying and you would be fooled.  Apricots are also NOT rare.  In fact, an apricot is actually just a redder shade of FAWN.  Some people will refer to them as fawn and others apricot.  There is also no such thing as a TRUE brindle pug.  IT has never been a pug color and never will be.  IT comes from people mixing in other dogs such as boston terriers to get the brindle pattern.  There are such things as white pugs but they are not common and not showable and not the standard.  The RAREST of all pug colors is the silver.  A TRUE silver.  Many people will advertise their dirty or smutty fawns (which are also unacceptable) as silvers.  They are not, they are only fawns with too many black hairs placed throughout the body.  A true fawn should have black ears, a black mask and a very clear fawn coat everywhere else with a few darker hairs running along the back or a few darker hairs in the forehead.  A true silver is actually exactly the same but instead of a clean fawn coated body, the hair is an actual, light, moon colored, silver/white.  In fact, the coloring is so rare that here in America, there are only a few TRUE silvers registered to date.

I have not done any research on white or black pugs (I have a fawn pug) but I did come across this photo gallery recently. The photographer is from Hong Kong. The images are of a litter of white, black and fawn pugs. The white pug is adorable!

I believe the correct term is fawn pug instead of white. But the most common colors are fawn and black. There are some rare colors but not many. Hope I helped.

The Silver is the rarest, the White is Albino, they have the pink like most Albinos do, they will sun burn easy, The Apricot is a reddish color on the guard hairs, just like people take on reddish coloring to the hair or men do in breads. The black is not rare, but it takes a lot to raise both and most people prefer Fawn, so a breeder has to supply the demand, I have both. The Smutty fawn is a fawn that has been breed with the Black to many time. The Black that has reddish hairs in the coat has been breed with Fawn to many times in the background,I have seen some advertisements on Silver, they are any thing from The Smutty to Black. I wish people that want to breed would do the research before taking on the Pug. Now food, Pugs love food, they will eat vegetables, some of mine love apples, peeled and cored. I have one that loves Dill Pickles. Use common sense and treat them as you would your human CHILD and you will never go. My Vet told me you will never get two Vets to agree on the food, the highest to the lowest will not do them any good if THEY DO NOT EAT IT. If you are trying to get them to loose weight cut back on the food, start by decreasing it a little each day or two until you cut it in half, now remember when walking and exercising more; they need more food.
If I can be of any help please feel free to email me.Carol, puggies@sc.rr.com

Black pugs aren'tthat rare. I've never heard of a solid white Pug, though. The rarest color of pugs I believe are brindled.

I don't think black pugs are all that rare, I see them all the time at my local pet shop, and they are easy to find online, I was looking for a solid white pug puppy for sale when I came upon this site and they are quite difficult to find online, I have found a couple, but not ones I wish to purchase, because they exceed my price range.

Pugs do over eat!!! But you should find something you and your pug both like to do like going for a walk or throwing a ball cause if you find something you and your pug both like it will probabley stop eating as much and if it keeps on over eating take a little bit of food away but not too much just enough so your pug dosen'tnotice and you should check with your vet for more tips. Because if your pug gets overwieght it will be a BIG problem! i hope this helped!
and this is from a 10 year old~!

Pugs can be fawn, apricot fawn, black, silver and one other color i forget what it is called. A_____ something. but the most popular color is fawn. Along time ago royal kings and queens owned pugs and thought the were more amusing than the royal clowns and jokers. Royals prefered fawn or apricot fawn pugs to black pugs by far. But that was in the 1800's.

I have bred pugs and have had a solid black one.  But only one in 3 litters out of my black female pug.  On the question about pugs over eating yes and no.  My female pug will never stop eating if you let her but my male pug is very finicky. . .he will only eat when he's hungry and will stop when he's full as do some of his puppies do the same.
