I think you might be able to it depends though you should ask your piercer and he/she will tell you rather you can or not. I think that they much rather would want to pierce you with the standard barbell which is stanless steel with plain metal balls on each end, they do it for healing purposes it's because it heals better and easy to clean and take care of, and they do it because when you get your tongue pierced your tongue will swell a great amount and tongue retainers do not come in larger lengths standard they only will come in 5/8. Plus retainers are just for healed piercings. What I would do is instead of putting a retainer in ask if instead of the plain metal balls if you could get them to use flesh colored balls instead.

can you get your tongue pierced and wear a retainer for three week instead of the regular ring.

well i have a tounge ring and i really would say yes u can wear ar retainer but its a very good choice to wear the orignal ring so that u can get the feel of the ring. if any any any questions about comments:latonio2003@yahoo.com

yes you can get a retainer and yes you can wear it instead of a regular ring... for work or what not if your not aloud to have something like a piercing or tattoo.. now i don't have my tongue pierced but i have to get it done and i have been looking up on it and yes you can wear a retainer as a barbell...
