My 16-mo old mal is terrified of fire works, what should I do? I need help on this ASAP (obviously). Thanks.

Several of our Mals are afraid of fireworks. We let them into their crates (where they feel very safe) and then put a blanket over the crate, and make sure the Mal has his or her favorite toy to snuggle. (This is when the family is at the fireworks display and that night.) When we are home, we keep the dogs close to us and let them know they are safe. Often they will then choose to go into their crates. When it is around the 4th of July, we accompany them outside to go potty, so they don't get scared.
