have business letterhead in adobe illustrator "al" file format (from illustrator v7) but no way to read or print on my windows PC

any advice short of buying a copy of illustrator?

if you know someone that has the program illustrator or the person that created the file, you can have them export it to a PDF and you should easily be able to open that on your computer.  If you don't have the program on your computer you can go to adobe.com and download it for free.
