I have a pioneer keh stereo which turns on and works...

I have a pioneer keh stereo which turns on and works normally and after about 10mins the sound suddenly stops, unit is still turned on with lights and everything but nothing through the speakers, turn it off and back on and it has sound again for about 10mins again.  Is something inside it getting hot after being on for a period of time or what?  I don't like to use it as I am sure it is not going to last long.
