Yes i think it is ok to pierce your belly button yourself but first numb it for a while with ice and then take the needle and stick it over the spot you want it.Think of someone special in your life such as a guy or girl. This helps releive stress. Trust me. Move the needle around and push as hard as you can you won't feel a thing.

Yea, if u have the right equipment. if u have the right equipment, then it is fine. it will get super infected if u just use a sewing needle, or a safety pin. if u pierce it urself, go out somewhere to buy the right stuff. then ull be all fine. buy the right size like a 14g ring and if u pierce it with a straight bar, u haveta buy straight bars afterwords, if u pierce it with a curved bar, then u can buy circle rings, or curved bar bells. if its pierced with a curved, and u put in a straight, it will hurt big time. same the other way as well. so if u pierce it urself, make sure u have the right equipment before u do.

I think you should ge your belly or anything else pierced by someone professionaly because i got my belly pierced and it got infrcted and got an operation. If you want to see how it was like a before and after picture go to google.com images and write in belly sores and  go to page 3 and it would be in the 3 row the 1st one.

Hey there, i highly reccomend that YOU DO NOT pierce your own navel. Everything MUST be clean, sterilised and proffesional. You are much better off going to a piercing specialist who will make sure you are safe and clear from any future infections.
Hope i helped :)

Yes. In my opinion its ok. but u gotta no what your doing. i pierced mine on my own and it looks great. Get an ice-cube or 2 and numb your belly-button. When its numb get a long thick needle or safety pin and pierce it. leave the needle or pin in it for 3 minutes nad put alchol or peroxide on it. take it out and put the belly ring in.

Personally i think it is okay if you can't afford to have it done professionally. I have had mine done twice professionally and i did it once myself. The two times i had it done they both hurt bad after wards and felt infected but when i did it my self it was GREAT! but i guess i  was just blessed cause it worked for me so it is really up to you weather you feel as if you can do it correctly. the only reason i did it was cause i have had mine done and had seen it done a few times too. so i knew kinda of what to do.

Absoloutly not, no doubt, final answer - NO!!
If you are serious about getting your belly button pierced NEVER do it yourself, even if you think you know what you're doing you most probably don't - and it will get majorly infected.
Professional piercers can pierce your navel with less pain, more accuratly and with the guarantee of properly sterilized utilities... for a small price. I had mine pierced by a professional 6 months ago, it's all heeled perfect and I love it to pieces - changed it 1st time today... if that's what you want... go to a professional!!

It depends Tracie, DONT do it with a safety pin, it hurts like hell and it will prolly get infected, if u are going to do it yourself go to a piercing web site and buy a piercing kit or something. Or if u don't want to go through the trouble use a Sewing Needle, but serialize it first, clean the area ur going to pierce before you pierce it, and clean it two or more times a day, or it will get infested.

I think it's fine to pierce your own bellybutton. I did mine almost a week ago and its fine it does'nt hurt or anything the only hard part is finding the right place to put it. You should'nt pierce it with a saftey pin though because then the hole will not be big enough, you should pierce it with a thick needle about the size or a actual belly ring.

ok,listen. i pierced my own belly button with a kit recommended on here.  yes it hurt but i would never take it back it was more worth it than anything.  my  mom would not let me get mine pierced so i got online and bought the kit with a credit card. DO NOT ever use peroxide as u know and umm well i guess neosporin is good but whats really good is bausch and lomb contacts cleaner lol i know but it cannot hurt u or ur piercing and it works great.  i have been researching self piercing for about 5 years now!  my belly button have never once got infected in the 13 days its been pierced and its so pretty! be very careful and always wash  utensils before cleaning or piercing.I DO NOT RECOMMEND PIERCING THE BOTTOM OF YOUR NAVEL B/C IT IS VERY LIKELY YOU MAY HIT A VEIN OR OTHER IMPORTANT ARTERIES! i have ten times more things to say but it would take wayy too much space!! So good luck and if you do have any questions please dont be afraid to email me at: ghettogurl8269@aol.com        I'm 13 by the way!!

Hey im 16 1/2 years old and i peirced my belly button with a hollow needle. I believe that the hollow needle takes some of the pain away. I hurts for like 2 seconds. But in order for you belly button not to get infected do the following: Make sure your hands are clean along with the needle and the belly button it self. once you get the needle through leave it there for like 30 seconds then slide the ring in its place. you should clean it ever morning and night with Dial Soap(which you can get anywere) and clean it with sea salt. With that just put a lil sea salt in some warm water let it desolve bend over and but the bowl over the belly button push kinda hard and stand up straight and let it soak for 15 minutes. The sea salt makes it heal faster. This is what all professionals say. Or Should Say. And dont worry bout it all of my friends did there own belly button this way and they look GREAT trust me!!

well it kinda depends, i did mine once and it hurt really bad and it got all infected but i dont see why you couldnt if you properly research it so you will know how to clean it and how to numb it. also dont use a safety pin, it isnt the right kind of metal at all, i would just say if at all possible get it done professionally

Piercing your own navel is basically a 50/50 chance, it may or may not work out for you. I myself tried to do it once myself with a fairly thick sewing needle. Not too thick but thicker than your average sewing needle. I then found a safety pin which I thought would be better because I could clip it together and use it in place of the belly ring when I'm done. BAD idea. Safety pins are the worst kind of pins to use for piercing yourself seeing that they are not the right type of metal and they could actually corrode inside of you if not sterilized properly.
I didnt have success with the piercing process. I couldnt get through that last piece of skin so I gave up. I am now left with a scar. I regret it now. Im trying frantically to get rid of the scar so I can get it professionally done, once I wear my parents down to letting me.
My best advice is wait it out. Your parents will eventually come around. I mean I have the stricktest parents in the world and I've nearly convinced them.
If your parents say no no matter what..
my best advice is to buy a professional piercing needle, sterilize your equipment and do plenty of research so you know what you're doing. Much Love.

Its my name....I know, weird huh?

Anyways, If I wanted to pierce my belly button, I wouldn't do it my self, I would probably call up my friend to do it, but I would mark the spot with marker, cause who never knows what happens, BUT! The MOST BEST WAY OF PIERCING YOUR BELLY BUTTON is....get it PROFESSIONALLY DONE...If I did it, I would probably screw it up anyways.^.^

Well, of course that is up to you, but thats not a good idea. It would probably get infected because not sanitizing it good enough. If you were to pierce it yourself then you would have to get proper needles because if you a safety pin or sewing needles then you would have troubel putting the jewelry in the hole.

yes if your not 18 and your parents wont sign for you to get it done. im not suggesting that you do but if you really want to its ok. dont use saftey pins they will cause infections. make sure u numb it with ice first 4 an hour. if you cant get a piercing needle use a 14 gauge sewing needle. afterward leave the needle in for a few days. when you put the ring in push it through while pulling needle out. wash it every doy with anti- bacterial soap (orange- dial is the best)dont use a cloth only cotton swabs afterwards put neosporin around it. it may take 3-6 months to heel. mine only took 1 month. then you could change the ring whenever you want.

Sure, why not. You have to be really careful though. and DONT use a safety pin! It has really bad metals in it and can get it infected real bad. Use a sewing pin, or a needle you can get from a kit.
It's better getting it done professionally though. But hey, I don't wanna spend 50 bucks either, so I'm even thinking about piercing my own. Just be careful k

I peirced my belly myself aged fourteen. It does hurt and because you do it to yourself your stomach muscles contract making it harder to get through correctly and safely. This is how i did it. First i washed my hands and nails and forearms with very hot water and carbolic soap, then put on sergical gloves, do not use mums washing up gloves! You can drink alcohol to ease the pain but if you are performing it yourself and a friend isnt there in case you get in trouble, it is not advisable. Next i steralised the needle in alcohol, and will do as long as it is neat, not an alcopop! Then light a candle and heat the needle repeatedly but remove and black residue with cotton wool. Clean your sdtomach thoroghly in the hole and the area surrounding it, use carbolic soap and very hot wsater, you can use a cotton bud to make sure the inner area of you belly is cleaned well. dry with tissue. Then lay on your back, place the end of the needle with the eye into a cork from a wine bottle for example and mark with a dry marker pen where you are going to make the hole. Do not go too far in. Push firmly and slowly, because your stomach is not clamped as it is when done professionally pushing through fast can seriously damage your stomach and muscle. Remember you are perfomnig an operation on yourself with out anesthetic! Use a belly bar, not earing, clean it with strong salt water and do the same two times a day in and around you belly, you can also use savlon antiseptic wound wash, it's good stuff! When you get it done proffessionally you are washed with iodine and antiseptic and all the instruments and fresh and after use thrown away. You will layt on your back and your stomach will be clamped, they do this with am instrument which looks like a stick 2with a circle on the end joined at the top. they will draw holes and use a numbing spray which makes the job hurt less than an injection HONESTLY!  you will feel a little pressure but no pain wotsoeva! Then the pericing will be fitted and you should follow the after care sheet given strictly and go back for a check upo and if you are concerned visit your GP immedialy! My peircing at home was just saw ans awkward, cost me 20 pounds to have it done and i am now 15, looks good and is easy to maintain. its your decision but it will be there forever so dont go putting holes here there and everywhere, if you want a peircing wait  for a few months to see if you are sure. I had my ears pierced after my belly and that hurt five times as much!
