I have read some of the questions posed by other members already and I feel that I am in the same predicament.  I have, on occassion, problems with my knees acting up.  I get frustrated and then I completely stop exercising.  At that point the weight starts to creep back on and I feel sluggish and it is so hard to get back into the swing of things.  I have not damaged any ligaments, however I have a problem with edema. (fluid build-up)  What alternative exercise could I do that does not involve lots of money but produces the same "feel" as running. I averaged 3 miles 4 times a week. Any recommendations?
