I need help finding this book, including title and author.

From my childhood in the 60's.  It was about a turtle named Tagalong (?spelling) who had animal friends that were always too fast for him and they found him to be a nuisance.  Every page included ..."oh no, there was tagalong" as he always showed up at inopportune moments. Until one day all the animal friends got caught in the hunters trap and thank goodness tagalong showed up to save them all!  Thank you for any help in tracking this down!

REWARD FOR THIS BOOK: red cloth book about 5 x 7-maybe a little larger. On the front is a London policeman holding two children's hands,a little girl on one side and a little boy on the other. It has several color picture pages in it throughout the book.I think the first picture in the book has a tissue-like paper over it. I think the story is about a widower with two children in London who hires a mean nanny. The children try to run away and meet a policeman who guides them back home.My copy got put in a garage sale when I was a little girl. Now I want the book back to give to my daughter. The book is for older children. This is an older book-maybe 1920's??THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP!!!

I am looking for a book that might have been published 20 to 30 years ago. It was about a mafia? hitman, but it had vampires in the story. The main character lived in a lighthouse and had an arsenel in a secret room? oh, the story took place on an island also. I thought the name of the book was called  "The Monestary" or something like that, I can damn near remember the whole damn story!, execpt the title or the damn guy who wrote it! I would really be grateful if anybody could help me out on this one. thanks
