Judy,
It sounds like you have had a failure in the electrical charging circuit.  The most likely cause is a loose or broken wire.  The fact that you were hearing a clicking sound tells me that your motorcycle ran until the battery voltage dropped to the point that it was unable to generate enough current to keep the ignition system firing.  Look for a loose wire first.  There could also be problems with the alternator or the voltage regulator which would be a bit more serious.  If you find a loose wire or connection, tighten it and recharge the battery with an external charger before trying to start the machine.

When did you last change the oil? I know that sounds dumb....but if the oil is overfilled, it will wet the air filter, and the plugs, and will keep it from starting.

Judy,, By saying clicking is that what you hear when you  try to start it,  Meaning the motor won't turn over?  You have only three thing to beware of when it come to  a engine,, Ok,, Electrical,  does it have spark to spark plug,  is the connections tight to the battery, fuel is there fuel in the tank, is the fuel line pluged? Let me know if there is any other conditions that you can tell me , If you don't know how to test these things email me.  Hope this helps a little,

It sounds like a problem with ur electrics. First thing to do is try to Bump start it. If that works give ur battery a charge or get a new battery.

Sounds like battery corrosion on terminals, try cleaning.  Possible bad battery or starter failure.

check for a dead or weak battery i own several bikes one of wich is a 85 250 rebel i find keeping a battery tender hooked up when i am not abel to ride her also check your idle,if your head light is dim but brightens up when you increase the throttle a bit.then you need to increase the rpms a bit, adjust it by turning the black nob on the bottom of the carb a bit.if the rpm at idle are to low the charging system wont be able to put back what the headlight, running lights and igntion system are taking away.also thease bikes are easy to push start! so if the motor is not seized up from forgetting to check the oil!turn the key on,turn the start button on,turn fuel on,put her in 1st or 2nd gear hold clutch in get her roling good then release clutch.

hey judy ive had the same problem but i cant remember how i fixed it first check the casing on the left hand side of the engine to see if there are any wires traped if not that try charging the battery or go to the extreme and hit the starter with a hammer because it might be seized if so get a new starter
