Well when you get your tongue pierced, it's perfectly NORMAL for it to do weird things, such as getting an indent on top of your tongue. That is perfectly normal because the ball is resting on your tongue so its got its own "bed" if you will.
Now as for the white cells. Those are dead tastebuds. Those will be all over the top of your tongue for first 3-4 weeks of youre tongue piercing. It's just a sign of healing. I think the person with the white stuff coming out of the hole in their tongue needs to see a doctor it sounds like either a scab or a nerve. Check it out or it may cause some serious damage. To me, it sounds like scar tissue from the first piercing. I would assume it would go away but maybe you should go talk to your piercist I believe they will be a litle more positive because a doctor may may you remove it. When mine got infected because of this chinese food I ate, my doctor made me remove it and I am going to go get it repierced now.

having white stuff on your tongue is not white blood cells! Blood cells stay in your blood stream...to answer your answer u should lay off the oral mouth rinse and rinse with water instead until the whiteness is gone..trust me i thought cleaning my tongue every 2 hours would make it heal faster too(it didnt) it just made ma tongue white so use water after meals until ur tongue is pink again...im talkin from experience and i never got infected bye XOXOXO

Chill guys!:) I got my tongue pierced..about 2 weeks ago, I agree with Niecey, there not blood cells of any sought. After a couple of days after having it done, some white liquid may appear, Firstly its not a nerve but rather your body reacting to the bar in your mouth, so excess fluid may appear, all you do is wash your mouth out twice a day and leave the fingers out of the mouth. REMEMBER germs cause infections have fun xo

when i got my tongue pierced i had white stuff around the top and some white stuff oozing on the bottom. As far as i was told by all my friends with their tongue pierced...its completely normal. I actually took my tongue ring out about 3 weeks after i got it done because i had a hard time kissing my boyfriend. Haha! Im looking to get it repierced asap...i miss it terribly.

I think she should just take it out because its probably going to be infected. If you don't know what'd wrong with it go to the place you got it pierced at and ask the person who pierced it what you sould do. Until then stay pierced, and safe!!

Actually, the white stuff coming out is probably not normal...clear stuff is okay though, because those are dead cells and lymph...i've had my tongue pierced and I had the indent on my tongue, too, so I suppose that it is completely normal. Now the shocking...that is something that needs to be checked, because mine has not done that. My piercing swelled up like a balloon and stayed that way for a few weeks. I don't think that was normal. Anyway, Listerine is the best stuff ever invented...just dilute it with water and it should be fine...DONT USE IT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOTTLE...it's too powerful and it will probably slow the healing process down. My tongue was white too, because I was cleaning too much. Don't only rinse with water...just don't rinse as often. Water does absolutely nothing to help!

Ya you probably have trush from rinsing too much or from using a mouth wash thats too strong, try and find one with a lower level of alchohol. A really good allternative is simply 1/4 tsp of SEA salt in a normal sized glass of water! BUT DO NOT USE TABLE SALT!! sea salt and table salt are entirly different!

Having white stuff on the top of your piercings IS white blood cells and IS normal I'vehad my tongue pierced 3 times, lightly brush around your piercing with a tooth brush (no toothpaste)and in 3-4 weeks it will begin to break up and go away as your tongue heals.

I'm having some serious problems with my tongue piercing rite now too.. all what i can say is don't use mouth washes that contain alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide. sea salt water works the best (according to my doctor) the mixture for it is 1/4 teaspoon per 8 ounces of water. um, and if you are worried about it go on antibiotics asap, at least you can kick it in the ass before it gets worse... now i do have a question,, my tongue is so swollen rite now the the top of the ball seems to be going inside my tongue..uh..should i get a longer barbell?

yeah, the white stuff on ur tongue is normal, mine did that for a while too, but something that i found helped wiht it was a tongue scraper, its like a thing that takes off the germs and crap off of ur tongue. which means it will take ur dead skin and taste bud cells off.

Hi, so Ive had my tongue pierced for about 2 and half weeks now, and the tops fine, but on the bottom theres this little white piece of white skin? Actually im not even sure if its skin but its white and its attached to my tongue. Ive tried pulling it off but it just wont' go. I use the mouthwash and I know that I dont' over use it either. Can someone tell me what this is, and if its suppose to be there or if i should go to the doctor or what? Thanx.

I got my tongue pierced about a week ago. It looks very healthy. I am taking very good care of it with out over-cleaning it. The only problem is 2 days after the piercing, I was eating a soft piece of wheat bread by ripping it with my fingers and chewing it with my molers and somehow my barbell ripped forward a bit. Theres a hole on the top of the barbell. Will this eventually heal? I'm so conscience of what I eat now, but Im italian i love to eat.

i got my tongue pierced yesterday and i basically have the swelling under control but I rinsed my mouth out with Listerine mouthwash today but I didn't diluted it, and I brushed my teeth and my tongue and the ball lightly on top. I have white stuff coming out of the bottom that doesn't wash off with the mouth wash or water, I literally have to pull it off. It doesn't hurt to pull it off but the only thing that hurts on my tongue is the bottom and I'm thinking that's where the the ball hits the bottom of my mouth. What is the white stuff? Should I be worried?

the white stuff coming out of the tongue is just discharge. The body is just getting rid of waste. This helps to reduce chances from getting infections. This should go away after a few weeks. Do remember it takes about 1 year for he tongue to properly heal.

- First of all i just got my tongue pierced 3 days ago.. the first todays were the worst. The swelling was bad and i could barely talk. on the second day my tongue developed a yellowish color AROUND the ball on top. i was scared at first but then i read online that, that mean that i was using too much mouth wash. so i cut back on the mouth wash. Now i currently have a white ring around my tongue - which i assume is just dead tastebuds. The indent in my tongue is pretty big.. but each day my ball pops up a little more!! and my speech is almost as clear as it was before i got it done!

white blood cells do leave the blood stream... trust me, i'ma bio major. they're called erythrocytes and build up is referred to as pus. the white thing in front of your tongue ring is just a clump of white blood cells.. killing bacteria and doing their job, i promise they will go away mine did.

Excess white or pale pink scar tissue can also form towards the end of
the
healing process for the same reasons. Around the bottom entrance, scar
tissue may appear as a raised ring around the entrance. Around the top
entrance, scar tissue will often take the form of a hard bump beneath
the
surface of the tongue. Scar tissue that forms after the piercing has
healed
is usually the result of injury to the piercing or an accumulation of
plaque.

Some people have successfully treated hypergranulation and excess scar
tissue on oral piercings using an aspirin and water paste. This method
is not suggested; aspirin can easily damage delicate oral tissues.

Tongue barbells will collect plaque, usually on the bottom ball,
especially
in the crevice between the ball and bar. Plaque traps bacteria and can
cause
the jewelry to have a bad odor. A large accumulation of plaque can
irritate
a healed piercing and result in scar tissue. Daily use of an anti-plaque
rinse is suggested to prevent plaque build-up. To remove a build-up of
plaque, remove and soak jewelry in an antibacterial denture cleaner
following the package directions.

Ew. My friend got her tongue pierced, and she ignored the piercer's guidelines for healing and started to change the barbell only a week after she got it pierced. It was fine for a month or so, but now a nasty keloid has formed on the bottom side of her tongue. It's about the size of the barbell's ball. I also have my tongue pierced, and I'm so glad it hasn't happened to me. Ha, ha.

i got my tongue pierced four days ago, and i have a coating of "white stuff" too. That is just dead tastebuds and they will regenerate in about 2 weeks or so and your tongue will be a healthy pink once again!
I have a yellowish/white substance oozing out of the top of the piercing also and this is a sign of it healing. It's not pus...its actually "lymph" which aids in getting rid of bad bacteria inside your tongue.
Im still a little sore, and can't eat any solids, but I'll live. lol Dont be scared, jus remember this is the healing process and it is definetely yucky!!!
