well i pierced my own navel, and it worked out fine. i asked my mom about it and they told me NO, and that i had to wait. i asked them a few more times after that and still i got the same answer. so i said screw it, i want it done so ill do it myself. at first i iced my navel (it doesnt really help) then i took a pin from my moms kit, and pushed it through it was really easy. but of course a tiny pin wont make a big enough hole to put a bar-bell in, so i took a safety pin and pushed it in the same hole. it made it alot easier becuase i had already had a hole and all i was doing was making it bigger. once you have the saftey pin in just leave it in for a while, from time to time push it up and down, side to side. it hurts at first but if you really want it pierced im sure you can handle a little sting. after you let it sit there for a while get a bigger safety pin ( you can get all different sizes at a dollar store) once you have the bigger safety pin in go ahead put in your bar-bell.It might seem like alot of steps but it goes alot easier when you work your way up to bigger safety pins. trust me ive tried with a reagular one and it hurts way more than gradually getting bigger. ive never ever had a problem with my navel. my friend pierced hers to but to this day she still hides it from her mom. i waited about a month or so to tell my mom, that way if she made me take it out i would still have the hole. and i told her "you know if you would of let me get it done, i wouldn't of pierced it myself" thats exactly what i said, and for sure i thought they were gonna make me take it out, but no they didnt have a problem with it. but they did say if i get an infection its my fault... but no i ive never ever had a problem with it.. and plus everyone compiments you on how cute it looks. :)

tons of people I know including myself have sucessfully pierced our own navels and it wont get infected if you use STERILIZED needles and if you wash your hands before, and not touch ur bellybutton until it heals and to clean it every day with rubbing alcohol. A pro can do it just as well as a regular person on themselves. be sure you get enough skin, then put ice on it until the area feels numb, then stick the needle through all the way. wiggle it around a little and then take it out....then move to a larger sized needle and repierce the exact same hole, (if you just pierce it with a huge needle/safety pin, it'll be harder. so it's easier and less painful if you work your needle size up as you go). just be sure to keep it clean with rubbing alcohol. if you don't like it, let it close up on its own (dont wear a ring through it or else it won't be able to close up) and if you screwed it up you can always let it close up and then repierce it better.

hi everyone, just wanna say if any1 is thinking about piercing there own navel or getting your friends to do it STOP!!!!, if your parents say wait till your 16.... WAIT TILL YOUR 16, unless you do it your self risk the chance of getting infection and defiantly want to scar your self for life go ahead. PLUS you haven't got the kit or tools to pierce you navel or any part of your body, even if you did its not sterile so DONT TAKE THAT CHANCE WHICH YOU WILL REGRET FOR THE REST OFF YOUR LIFE , my friend made this mistake and went to hospital with a major infection and is scared for life and is self concious about her appearence, and no longer wears bakinis ect. she is devistated!!!, i just got my navel pierced at a proper place where all the equiptment was sterile and safe the procedure didnt hurt AT ALL and i knew i was safe because the piercer was there and talked me through every step and showed me what would happen when i was finished and when it was pierced i was soooooooooo happy i phoned all my friends and i love it now!! i dont have a scar and i followed all the instructions from the piercer!!, so if you want to get your navel pierced get permission from your parents DONT PIERCE IT YOURSELF OR LET YOUR FRIENDS PIERCE IT FOR YOU, go to a good piercer and get it pierced there with a adult or friend IT IS PAINLESS!!! and afterwards it looks sooo cute , REMEMBER if you are scared it is ok to ask questions dont be shy remember this is your body not anyone elses and if you wanna keep it healthy and looking good you have to protect yourself because no one else id going to do it for you. thankyou for reading this i hope it helps you!!!! mwah!!! stephanie ringham england! .XxXxXxXxXxXxX.

For one thing why would you want to do it yourself that just take the fun of the experience of getting it done at a local body piercing shop! Plus it's a stupid idea you can get a serious infection and what you will be piercing it with is not going to be the right gauge for the navel piercing. So you won't be able to buy all those cute little navel jewlery that you been looking at because it's not going to fit! So I would say keep begging you parents if thats the case the longer you bug them the more they will see you really want it and just maybe you will be able to get it done, but hey if not no sweat because guess what when you get 18 you can do whatever the hell you want to do! So either way think of it this way you will get it done sooner or later!

Okay.. first of all, when your piercing your own navel you have to remember a few things:.. 1) First lay out your materials..which are going to be a 14 guage sewing needle, a q-tip or cotton ball, an ice-cube in a cup or bowl and an anti-septic of some sort. (not alcohole..like the ear-piercing antiseptic.) 2) Numb your navel. Hold the ice cube to your belly button for like 5-8 minutes..take it off when its completely numb. 3) Rub some anti-septic on then dry the area. 4)Take a marker and put a dot where you want to pierce it. 5) Put the needle on that dot and SLOWELY start to push the needle in. 6) Try to keep in a straight line. 7) After the needle is in both sides, get your belly ring (that had been sterilized!!) and as you take out the needle, push in the belly ring. 8) after you are done, clean up the mess and clean your piercing (with anti-septic!) TIP: DONT "FEEL" YOU'RE PIERCING. CLEAN IT 2-3 TIMES A DAY AND DONT SHOW OTHER PEOPLE ALOT FOR ABOUT A WEEK TO PREVENT INFECTION. Hope this helps and good luck, Michey

Sometimes kids do stupid things, and piercings their navals at home is one of them. yes, it is true you may get an infection, but most of time you may not, if your not being stupid and you know what your doing. Only parents with spoiled little brats would let their children get their naval pierced. in reality, its most likely never going to happen, and by the time your 18 you might not have the body you once had at the time you wanted to get your naval pierced. im going to have my cousin's friend do mine, and as long as i know everythings sterile, and i looked up everything on the internet, then im good to go. so if your going to do it at home, or someone else is going to do it for you, then just make sure you've done all your reserach and you know everything is sterile.

well, when i did mind c i live in wisconsin and there you have to be 16 with a parent to ge it done and my mom just told me to do it my self so i did...this is what u do. 1-get sea salt and a dish of a lil bit of water.. then mix those. 2-get a safety pin and let that sit in the dish filled with the sea salt water for about 5 mins. 3- wash your hands and your belly/navel 4-take the pin out of the water and stick it in! 5- the close the safety pin and clean around the area with the sea salt, and if you want use "NEOSPORIN "(that will kill any little things that might make your new stud upset) 6-clean it 3times a day and spin... WITH CLEAN HANDS!!! 7- in 1-2days you can take it out and put a 14G stud in but make sure you clean it 8- for the next couple weeks keep up with cleaning in 3 times a day. and thats how it works... now if there is any sign of infection take it out! its not worth it!

Well umm if you want to die or get a major infection then go ahead i say you should juts wait till your 18 to get it done if your parents don't let you.But if you haven't even asked them then don't do it yourself,then they find out and say we would have let you done it,right at that point you could get a major infection that spreads its very dangerous!You don't know how your body will react to the unsterilized needle!SO NEVER PIERCE YOURSELF OR LET A FRIEND PIERCE YOU!!(I'm just telling you whats best for you,but i don't mind if anything happens cause i just told u,and your parents would be supper mad!i should know this stuff my mom is a professional piercer)....

I'm 17 and I'm thinking about getting my belly button pierced too. My friend is doing it for me. :-) You won't get an infection as long as your SUPER careful. We went to this website and it really helped when I did hers. http://www.cooltopics.net/piercebelly.html It tells you what to do and u can even order everything you need right on the web-site. i think you shouldn't do it by yourself it is very dangerous on what Alexia said. but if u insist u use a hollow 14g needle(sterile) and pierce bottom to top. make sure the area and your hands are clean, use gloves to make sure. as your slipping the needle out put the ring in right behind it.. the ring should be surgical steel or solid gold not any crap because it will get infected and deteriorate and you wont have any skin above your belly button and a nasty scar. GET IT DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL THOUGH I DON'T CARE IF U FORGE A NOT JUST GET IT DONE RIGHT!

go ahead i pereced my belly button my self all u need is a safety pin lighter ice and hoop or belly bar.all u need to do is to clean the safety pin with antibacterial wash heat the saftey pin with the lighter till it gets to hot to hold then numb your belly button with ice.make shore the pin is in place and the push really hard with all your might.then when the pin has gone all the way in leave it in for about 20 minutes then twist it around pull it out then put the belly bar/hoop in(don't forget to clean the jewelery).you will look great and don't for get to clean it regularly

Hey..i've pierced my ears many times,my bellybutton and stretched original piercings to put flesh tunnels (or spacers) through. All have healed without infection. My friend has also pierced her nipple herself, she had the obvious amount of blood but everything was fine. I just advise you clean all the surfaces and anything you intend to let any materials touch. and Good Luck!...if your friend does it do not blame them for anything. You let them go thru knowing fine well the were not qualified!

Yah I would have to agree. THe risk runs especially high if you are diabetic or have a condition that slows you healing process. Unsafe navel piercings cna cause severe stomach infections , which can be fatal to diabetics. Safety pins DO NOT CUT IT AS PIERCING NEEDLES!!!! The silver plating can chip off and become lodged under the skin. If you are going to do it yourself( which i highly do not reccomend), at least use a pre-sterilized needle from a shop and KNOW what you are doing.

hey when I was 13 I pierced my own nose. Well it didn't hurt much because I loaded it up with ice. After a while i didn't like it because I though I did it too much inward but my friends loved it. Then i went to my mom and asked her if I could get it done proffesionally and she let me. I just say do it yourself but have clean needles and know the right spot.

i think it would be very dangerous and you could get an infection but then again you could get an infection if a professional piercer did it too. Maybe if you look up how to do it yourself with a sterile needle gloves and ring the piercing might be a success

Piercing at home isn't as bad as most people say. I went to a professional piercer and he actually said that home piercing is alright IF you know what you are doing.

I have a differnt story, last year i tried to do my belly button, by myself then that didn't work. Then this year, I asked my mom insesently over and over again, she wouldn't let me. later i had my dad bring me (my parents are devorsed) and it got infected any way. So my advice to you is ask one parent then ask the other, then if both of them will not let you, then do it yourself, or your friend should!

hi i did it myself at home all i did was take a needle and burned it with a lighter then i took it and shoved it tho its hard to get it in but itll go then i thought about all the thihngs that made me happy (happy place) then i took the needle and before i knew it it was thro but it hurt the next moring trying to move and stuff SOoO what its soo worth it...HAPPY PIERCING!!!!!!!!!!

Well i tried to do it myself tonight and it didn't work out to well my parents were even hepling me its pain but i can take it and all its just hard cause yeaha but then me and my parents finally decided to just get it done professionly so yeah go for the professtional piercing deff.

Im sure your mom prolly knows what she is talking about, Alexia, but you can sterilize a needle at home. and it wont hurt you to do it yourself. a lot of my friends have and i want to but, i just dont have the guts to do it. i would like if anyone would submit a way i could do it. thank you

if you think its cool you should go for it cause i did and the next day i went to a pro and they said it was fine and all i had to s was not touch it all the time and put neosporin on it. just only pierce the falb of skin and not any internal organs.

umm..i want to pierce my belly button now , im 13 and my mum has sed no but i realli want it done..i have pierced the top partialy but not the bottom with a sewing needle that has been steralised ..and the thing is my mum has got it done too so i don't understand why i cannot have it done ...it makes me feel sick to my stomach though to do it myself ! i even numb it with ice but it still hurts what shall i do ? plz plz help me!! xxxxxxxxx

I think its OKAY to pierce your naivel.ASlong as you have expirenced pain and pierceing your body before.If not wait till your ready to get it done proffesionally. so you dont risk infection or getting mentally ill

Look guys and girls check this out i have been doing home made piercings for a long time ive also done lots of at home tattoo's. I can tell you from experience about what its like! Do Not Do It if you use alcohol or peroxide and even if you let that soak for a year its NOT sterile you WILL get BAD infections if you read this and do them i will not feel sorry for you im not a proffessional but i have pro guns i autoclave and i still get nervous doing it because i know there is still a chance for a deadly infections.

get a glass of hot water and drop your needle (safety pin, dont use sewing needle it is WAY 2 small) into it. Lie on your back and relax your stomach. the needle should b disinfected first. you can use betadine of vinigar. push the needle through the top of your belly button and it will come out on the other side. be sure not to go at the wrong angle!! for 1 month after wash it in salt water everyday and pul it up and down!

im 12 years old and my i really want my navel pierced.i live with my nana and she seid maybe when im 13 but my dad seid if i give up half of my alowence i can get my navel pierced now , im tired of waiting how can i do it at home and not die or get it infected ?wats the best why to pierce it ? how do i clean and it? wat do i use to pierce it? wats the chance i have like will it totaly get infected ? put your anwer down and ill read it for shore
