I doesn't sound like your dog is pregnant. If she is 8 weeks along, she wouldn't be playful, she would be sleeping all the time. She would be lazy, dig alot, eat/drink alot more, and you would be able to tell by how fat she is! Your dog is probably just having false pregnancy. During false pregnancy, a dog may show some of the signs of pregnancy but not others. For instance, your dog is digging and has milk in her nipples but she isn't sleeping alot or getting bigger.
And just to clear another thing up, a dog having her first litter will get milk less than a day before labor, possibly just hours beforehand. An experienced dog might produce milk up to 4 days before hand. So if your dog has milk in her nipples and it is a real pregnancy, expect pups within less than 4 days...maybe even less than one day. Other signs to look for are getting restless, nesting alot, and not being interested in food. When that happens, pups could be arriving in as few as 8 hours. For all the whelping info you need, go to http://www.hilltopanimalhospital.com/reproduction.htm or if you have other questions, email me at stanishas@aol.com  Tanisha

Your dog would be eight weeks along by now, right? By that far along, it should be very apparent that she is pregnant. She should be fatter, have very swollen nipples, urinate more often, eat/drink more, and sleep ALL the time. So most likely, your dog is having false pregnancy. A dog can produce milk while having false pregnancy.
Actually Amanda, if it is a dog's first pregnancy, she may not start producing milk until under 24 hours before labor. Most likely if your dog starts leaking milk, it will be no more than four days until she has pups. Of course there are always exceptions so for some dogs, it may be a week.
For more info on heat, pregnancy, whelping, etc email me at stanishas@aol.com and I'll be happy to help! Tanisha

Dogs carry for 63 to 65 days. Sounds like your dog is due any day by the date you said you bred her on. Good luck with it all.

You cannot mate unless they are in season.
