Does anyone have any information on vintage Battaglin steel frames, circa 1989 - 1996. I just acquired a frame I am trying to identify.  would like help identifying the model and obtaining the specs (geometry / type steel, etc) for this frame. I was told it was built in 1991 and that it is constructed of Columbus SL. It does not have chrome chain stays. It has Gipiemme dropouts and brake bridge, “Battaglin seat stay “top eyes” (seat stay caps), the Battaglin bicycle logo on the lower head tube lug and the bottom bracket has two slots, “Battaglin” cast into a rectangular recessed area and two brazed on cable guides. The serial number is 515. I think the original color was red, and it had “Campangnlo” on each side of the top tube. I can not quite make out what was written on the rear of the top tube, by the seat tube, but it looks like it ends with “...terino”

Can you identify this frame?

Written on the rear of the top tube is Giovanni Battaglin's signature.  I own and still ride, competitively, my 1985 Battaglin.

Hello,
Unfortunately i'munable to help you with your enquiry. I have also just bought a secondhand Battaglin frame which was informed to me of being around a 2002-03 model (Maybe)
The frame size is 55cm with a blue and white colour. Very similar to what I think the sloopy model looks like. Unfortunately I'm unable to find a model number on the frame and so at moment unable to get any further information on the frame. If you happen to know where i'llfind the model number or anywhere that can be of use to discover specific model. If you have any details that may help please contact me on garreth_walker@hotmail.com

I don't know if I can help a lot with this but may can give you some  general ideas about the frame.

Is this a tigged frame or lugged?

The top mounted brake cable and other things that you've described tend to make me believe that it is an older frame. If it is a lugged and brazed frame then it is probably pre-1990 because the SL tubing was the entry level Columbus tubes (Still very, very, good)The next step up at that time was SLX

The SL Tubing was basically rebadged as "Thron" in the early '90's So if it is listed as "SL" then it would, I think, be earlier. I think that the difference is that the "Thron" had a bit thicker ends to make welding more reliable. Mine says "SL"

If it is tigged then I think that was kind of a generic entry level frame that Battaglin produced for about 10 years. I have one that says "ARN Racing" on the top tube and think that was some sort of second or third tier team. But, I've never seen another bike with these logos.

All of that said, you description sounds like an older bike
