What does the red and blue letters and numbers mean on paper money?

Hi...the red seal and serial numbers means the note is United States Note also called a legal tender note.The blue seal and serial numbers mean the note is a Silver Certificate.The different seal colors was a indication on what requirements and securing the issued currency had. Pete

Hi..it means the blue are Silver Certificates and the red are US Notes also called legal tender notes.Currency was issued under different laws and requirements.The color seals indicated what the legal restriction and legal backing on an issue. Pete
