Why did they name the hurricane, Hurricane Camille?

Why did they name the hurricane, Hurricane Camille?

there is a list of hurricanes for each year,it help people identify which hurricane they are talking about because there can be more than one at a time.

Because Camille was her momma's name.

In 1969 the naming conventions for hurricanes were not strictly controlled as they are today. John Hope, a meteorologist at the National Hurricane Center named the hurricane in honor of his daughter Camille who had just graduated from high school.

they named it camille because the hurricanes of the year are named in alphabetical order. so naturally, the next letter must have been C and they picked Camille.

i think they did that because camille is a beautiful name. it is my name but they also did that because it was a La Nina hurricane which means it was a girl and it is the 3rd hurricane in the hurricane cycle
