I'm so sorry for your loss:(

I truly do know how unreal and devastating this feeling is ... it's not fair and it's seems so unreal and my heart breaks every day when I see another person have to live through this nightmare:(

I have to say that I was across the hall from Madison's nursery with the baby monitor right beside me as I was reading on my bed.... I was listening intently and had checked on her often.... and there was not a sound.......  they can determine in autopsy if they were asleep... that was one of the first things they told u; that she had definately been asleep when she passed.

As far as sleeping on her stomach, Madison was a back sleeper and she passed of SIDS as well.  They list tummy sleeping as a precaution to SIDS, but how can you have precautionary measures for things you don't even know why they happen????

And soffocation is not SIDS.

My little sister died of SIDS when she was 3 months and 9 days old (May 9, 1995- August 18, 1995). I have been told the baby simply forgets to breath... kind of like a really old person would if they were to die on their own. It is not painful they just simply forget and since the are so young (and for older people...so weak) nothing in their head tell them they need to wake up and start breathing again. It doesn't mater if they are sleeping on their stomach or back... there is no link to SIDS with those. I hope this helps. Losing a child is very hard. You will always rememeber how old she would be this year and everything else, but it should always make you smile... she is in a better place...and she would have been absolutely beautiful today!
