Why should the smoking age be lowered from 18, back to 16 in...

yes the smoking age should be lowerd because even thought the law states that you must be 18. there is a high percentage of people of the age of 16 that smoke. i am 17 and have been smokeing for almost 2 years. i know it is bad for me but i live with the danger of it. you must fist know what you are doing to yourslef and body before you start. many people start smokeing because they want to fit in. they want to look cool. most of the time they dont even inhale it in to there lungs so it is a waste of ther money and of the tobbaco. even though we are minors we should still be able to make this choice to smoke at a younger age it is our body our life. even if they were to rase the smokeing age i would still smoke and i am sure a lot of other young people would smoke to.

The Smoking age should be lowered to 16! People 16 or older don't care anymore about smoking age and get what they want anyway! all what a high smoking age does is to bring the teenagers to start with illegal stuff and care less about more illegal stuff. and u cant teach them how much smoking is OK, because they have to hide it. and there is no difference anymore between smoking cigarettes and illegal drugs, because its both just illegal! the same about drinking, when teenagers get old enough to do what they want without permission they will try to break rules to be cool. illegal stuff is a easy way to it. they have the choice: being cool and accepted or staying healthy.

The legal smoking age doesn't really have an effect on society. People under the age of 18 are still going to smoke. People say smoking kills. But it doesn't kill all. And if people are willing to take the risk. Then let them. Most people that smoke that are under 18 do it because they know that they can. So let them. If they lower the smoking age, then that would make people stop smoking. I don't know if this is true or not, but someone told me that the only reason most minors smoke is because they know it can get them into trouble. So if they lower it then they can't get into trouble, and some of the population of minors would stop smoking. Now I don't know if that's going to make them stop smoking or not, but it would make sense to me that they would. So instead of 16, I would even lower it to 15.

I think that they should lower the age because teenagers are still going to get smoke one to by them for them. NO matter what the government does ... there still going to smoke by lowering the age ... its not going to help then stop smoking but .. if they higher the price that will get them to slowly stop smoking.I know this because my friend is a smoker and the person is going to quite because it cost to much. So if you the age and higher the price then teenager will quite smoking

I think kids should be lowered to 15 because a hole bunch of kids smoke and there not 18 years old.

yes in think the age to smoke should beacome legal be 16 again. why, because if the teenagers want to risk there life to smoke a cigarette that will only last for just 5 minutes. then in a few years become a lung cancer victim and be suffering forever what will you decide 5min. cigarette...forevere being a cancer victim or 2sec. saying no "i don't do drugs"...and try to reach your goal?

I believe that if you are old enough to drive and even think about having sex than you should be able to smoke. People are going to do it anyway no matter what age. You can't stop it. So if someone wants to smoke let them as long as they arn'tharming others than what's the problem. It's risky for everyone even if you're 18. I know many 18 year old people that still can't make choices for themselves. Just because you're 18 doesn't mean you're an actual adult. So what's the difference if you're smoking at 16 you're gonna make the choice to smoke at age 18 and your only gonna kill yourself so i say why not?

YES!!!!! IT SHOULD, IN MY OPINION, BE LOWERED TO 14. I IN 4 PEOPLE SMOKE AND 25% ARE UNDERAGE. STATISTICS SHOW THAN SMOKERS START FROM AGES 10 TO 18. VOTE YES FOR 14 YEAR OLD SMOKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion, if any thing, the smoking age should be highered.I live in Canada and we are aloud to smoke at 16 but can not buy untill 18. This should not be aloud because 16 is too young.

smoking age should be 18 and over because lots of kids are failing out of their schools and the won't even have goals to reach, i mean like whats the point of reaching your goal if your gonna smoke and it ain't good because won't even get and job. so don't smoke peoples!!! ^_^

They sould lower the age because most teens 16 and older smoke anyway who cares if they do there pratically adults anyway. Its no ones elses business if they smoke anyway. They sould just drop the age back to 16.

i think it should be lowered back to 16 because if your a teen and its illegal to smoke at the age your at, you are more likely to smoke. its just another way to stick it to the man. also i believe its your choice if you want to smoke. everyone knows they are bad for you. let it be. also, if you are allowed to smoke, you don't find it as exciting. therefore you are less likely to smoke.

I think that any one at the age of 15 is old enough to make thier own desicions and that if they want to take the risk of disease that they should make thier own money to by cigarettes with. I think they should lower the smoking age to 15 even though i am a smoker and I 14.

Smokin is a major thing in the UK and many young people do it, speaking from expirience. I started when i was 14. Now 17, when i move to Australia I will not be able to get the tabbacco that i have needed for 3 years of my life. All countries should have the same age for legal smoking! Otherwise you will have people being forced to quit something they have needed or force them to ask other people on the streets if they would mind buying them ciggarettes - which is unneccasery!

because alot of childern smoke to rebel against the laws. if they wernt there less people would smoke. children under age smoke becuse its illigal and it looks cool. i bet that less people sart smoking at the age of 19. by raising the age 2 18 u have encouraged people up 2 the age of 18 to rebel and smoke!! the lower the age the les people that will smoke. lower it 2 12 and i bet in 10 years time not many people will start smoking atall

Ok why does some people want the smoking age to be 21 but teens at the age 18 can go to war and kill them self but can't smoke unto 21 and that isn't fair about drinking to let me go kill myself in war but i can't drink unto im 221 that is NOT fair.
