I can't use my messenger account because I get a message that comes up saying that I dont have a certain Earthlink feature installed and that I need to install it from a disk that I SUPPOSEDLY already have that I don't.  Why is this when I have never had this problem before?

Up until about 3 days ago my yahoo messenger worked fine, but i saw that thing for the new update so i downloaded it but it didnt work so I removed it and put my old version and now that doesnt work. It say messenger cant connect. The smiley guy turns yellow for a second and goes back to gray but it still say welcome like im signed on instead of saying connecting but it still sends a message saying yahoo messenger cant connect.

I installed the yahoo beta, since then it  will only connect to one of the older versions, you can not even use your cam mic etc.

Click the Messenger menu in Messenger and select Connection Preferences. Enable the Firewall with no proxies option. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Messenger will ask you if you want to re-sign in with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button. Enter your ID and password and click the Sign In button.

why do i have so darn much trouble getting on to yahoo messenger i already have an account but u guys always want me to sign up this needs to be taken care of earlier this year didn't have a bit of trouble so u need to go back to the old way  thanks crazywilma6565

i can not connect to yahoo messenger either.  it tells me to connect to the internet, and when it doesn't tell me that it just says it is connecting and continues to do so until you stop it...

try opening the control panel, then switch to classic view, then choose the option that says firewall, this could be dangerous but you will only be doing a quick test. choose the option that says turn off firewall, after that try loging on yahoo. if that doesnt work then go to internet options and choose the security option, then go to the tab that says allow certain sites, choose yahoo, then try to log on again, if none of this works try deleting yahoo from the uninstall option in the control panel, then go to yahoo.com and install yahoo messenger with voice, then log on. if none of these work then you will need to get the most computer freindly person you know to check out your machine...cw

you need to be online, and you need 6.0 messenger or newer. sometimes the server's don't let certain folks connect at times, but generally you can connect. if you must get on yahoo, try chat.yahoo.com, you can then go into the chat rooms.

I am online and connected. The Yahoo mail works fine. When I see my friends online at my Yahoo homepage I try and connect so I can communicate with them. I sign into Yahoo messenger putting the right user name and pswd and it hangs with the statement; "connecting to yahoo as mehau5" That's as far as I get! Why?

Try doing this: right click the taskbar->properties->start menu->customize->advanced->clear list and then clear that. Next go to control panel->internet options then delete cookies, delete files then clear history. restart your computer or log off and then try signing in to yahoo messenger again.

sounds like your modem is off or theres a loose wire or somthin like that give it a look over real good make sure all power is on and theres no loose wires or cables

trying to set up a brand new yahoo messenger

everytime i try and sign in the yahoo box disappears
