Use an unzip program, usually by right clicking the folder or song you want to uncompress and clicking "Unzip with 'whathaveyou'" will work..

U can use Dr. DIVX to compress or u can even use MPEG 4 Maker to compress it.

If u compress it using Dr.DIVX u shud use DIVX codecs which can be downloaded free of cost.

the next time u open them it plays with DIVX codecs and a .DAT file can be converted into 1/5th of original size without loss of quality using the above compressors

If you want to do this through C/C++ in windows platform then There is DirectShow9.0c API which is the perfect to work with this kind of streams. You have to install the DirectX9.0c SDK in your machine and you must have any of the 32bit C/C++ programming platform like MSVC++6.0 to work with this.

you can't "uncompress" after it has been compressed, you lose all the information tht was trown out to compress the file. so when u take out information, it gets smaller, so yeah, no, there is no way to get a better quality video than the one u have. sry to say, but thts the truth
