My dog keeps on scratching her paws as almost digging dirt up outside, but on the carpet in the apartment.  Is this allergies, which she does have, but I've never had this problem before and she's 15 years old.  Any ideas?  She is on Atarax for allergies.

Have you found to reason for this behavior yet? My dog does the same thing. He has no known allergies.

Not an answer but my Shih Tzu, male, 6 yo has the same habit! Frequently, he'll scratch at the tile in the bathroom, carpet and floor of kitchen as if he's digging. Curious if you have gotten any serious answers to this curios behavior?

My last dog, at the same age, started to do this. Although he never had any allergies. Unfortunately he passed on a year later.
