Yes, I have a registered pug named Maximus--He will be 2 years old in Aug.  I really do not want childern, so I thought about getting a female pug puppy for him and maybe later having a little pug family..Is it hard to have them breed?  I know a wonderful lady that breeds pugs and has show pugs--she gave me some tips like someone would have to be home if the female had her litter?  And the 1st time in heat is too soon?  But how do I keep Max from staying away from her--I hate to keep one in the crate and the other one roam my house..What do you think?  Is it difficult?   Anyway thankyou for your time!  Suzanne

Well Suzanne,I think having pugs is like having kids. I would talk more to your breeder. If he thinks its a good idea and you have done your research I say its not to difficult but I cant tell I ave not seen your dogs. And about the separation thing you don't have to worry about it when she is not in heat. You don't always want to keep them separate, because most likely they will become best buds. Now I think breeding should be left to breeders who know what there doing but you have to start somewhere. So in your case I would just get as much information a you can from your breeder and maybe try baby gates for the separation that way the can both have part of the house. But when your sitting down watching them maybe try letting them out. Again I don't know your house or if the will work. But breeding pugs is a big thing you should always do trying to better the breed. Talk to your vet first see if your dogs are even suitable for breeding. Thats all the advice I have in this situation, hope I helped, and good luck!
P.S the first time is the hardest and I don't recommend selling them before 8 weeks old.
