My Bichon keeps rubbing his bottom on the floor or grass.  We had him checked for worms and it came back negative.  I am looking for information regarding their anal cavities.

He might be trying to clean himself off.  Try trimming the hair around his bottom.  Keeping it very short stops him from getting poop stuck on to his little bottom.  Good Luck.

They have blocked anal ducts.  The vet needs
to release them because they can't do it themselves.  My cockapoo does this.  You can
try adding 1 tsp of bran cereal on top of their food as needed.  (1tsp per 20 lb of wt.)

I once had a similar problem, whereby I kept rubbing my younger brother's bottom.
I also have worms, which I pick and flick at my brother along with dangleberries.
My remedy for you is that I could rub your Biscon's buttocks for him. I have experience in this field from when I used to visit Bonzo and Lady at Dominic's house.

Trimming around their backside will sometimes help with this problem but, if they continue to do this you can take them to a vet to have their anal glands expressed which sometimes become clogged causing them to drag their bottoms on the ground or floor in an attempt to do this themselves. The procedure is a simple one and only takes a qualified vet a couple of minutes and in most cases is more uncomfortable for the vet than the dog.
