I would talk to your local pharmaist. they are very helpful on supplements on ages and frame. Also, any medications you may be taking should be taken into concideration before taking a new supplement. a multivitamin isn't a bad idea, either.^^

I would take a little.  Don't go overboard.  You can't force nature too much.  You will gain weight as you get older.  I was about your identical size at your age and I am still fit and thin at 31.

Chris your way to young to be training seriously!!!  Your body is still developing and has a long way to go.  I am 25 and been working out since I was about 17.  I have found that through taking breaks it is easier to develop as you get older.  I now work out less but seem to benefit more.  You should try and do more varied exercise at your age, e.g cross training, climbing, martial arts, these will all help your body develop whilst keeping fit then as you get a little older see what you want training you want to "specialize in".  Protein is used to repair your damaged muscle after a workout thereby replacing torn fibers with new stronger ones.  Protein taken in amounts recommended by your GP/Dr should be fine for you.

As far as protein supplements go I wouldn't start to take them yet. Your body is still going through natural changes and protein supplements could possibly alter the changes that it goes through. I say wait till you are about 18 to start thinking about taking protien suppliments. But keep up with your work out routine.

Your 5'10" and 130 pounds?   what makes you think you need extra protein?  As long as you eat a proper diet and exercise, or at least stay active a supplement should not be necessary.  by the way, if your concerned about weight, at your height 130 is not too heavy.  its pretty healthy if you ask me.   My best advice to you would be to talk to your doctor before taking any supplements, if he says its ok or necessary, then take them.

I was 5'9" 130lbs at age 14 a freshman in high school. My Junior year I sprouted up to 5'11" and I weighed 185lbs I used protein shakes and all sorts of things to gain weight and muscle mass. You don't need it I gain most my weight and muscle though eating and excising. I ate 3 meals a day and had snacks in between meals and after dinner. I always drank milk even chocolate and I had 2nds or 3rds anytime I could fit it down. But you need to work out or it will just turn into fat. So don't worry you'll grow. If you are trying to gain weight don't join the wrestling team cause you'll lose all the weight you tried to put on.

The main value of protein supplements is that they are well tolerated immediately after exercise (you can drink it when you might not be able to eat immediately after a hard workout) and are absorbed quickly.  They are also portable and can be carried to wherever you do your workouts so that you can eat/drink it immediately after exercise.  Studies show that post workout nutrition consisting of 2 parts carbohydrate to 1 part protein are most effective at helping your muscles recover as quickly as possible.  You should eat something with both carbs and protein as soon as possible after your workouts, but definitely within 1 hour.

This is just good nutrition as it relates to exercise, and true no matter what your age.

If you are serious about your workouts you should already have a good diet that supplies all of the macro-nutrients needed.  Protein supplements are not magic, they simply make it easier to get adequate nutrition when it will do the most good.

Generally, protein supplements may be obtained at health food stores and other related retailers, but protein supplements are probably not the best things to go around with. If you are bodybuilding or working out and want more protein in your diet, I wouldn't recommend protein supplements because they aren't as good as the natural, original source of protein - meat. You should eat some chicken breast, beefsteak, and fish, which contain far more protein than most other foods (usually over 50% DV). That should be much better than nothing, and it will be much safer and more delicious protein supplements.

your not too young.  You should try to get your protien from natural things like foods such as meat.  This soon you probably shouldn't take more than 30 grams of a protien a day from supplements.  You should go to a local GMC or other supplemant store and talk to them.  You should also go to a local gym and talk to a trainer. They will tell you what you want to know

Espicially since your 130 pounds, you're body will not act very well to this. I highly reccommend that you do NOT start to take these pills without doctor's orders.

whey protein suppliments do not cause bodily harm, so long as you are proceeding with your workout plan as high repetition rather than that of high weight and low repetition, the problem with being 13 is you are not fully developed and are continuing to grow right now, when you tear your muscles severly due to strenuous workouts, your joint alignment and muscle tissues are weakened and pending on the severity can be long term, protein is good for you, but be careful with your routine

I would suggest adding a little extra protein to your diet...

I'd encourage something other than meat ;)

Vary your protein intake, don't try to get it all from one source... That's a good thing to do with any nutrient, actually.

I'd also suggest not trying to get too bulked up. I'm a teenage girl, and while I love mah boys to have some muscle definition, I'm not really into too much bulk... And, at my school at least, the girls who are are sluts. (To an extreme which all-out disgusts many straight boys, pretty much all of the ones who aren'ttreating them like sex toys.) But I suppose if sluts are your thing >.>

If your taking a protien supplement at any age you better be doing some serious lifting. And not just once a week, you need to stick to a regular schedule. If your 13 and 5`10` 130 pounds, Im sure that the protien won't be to strong for you. That's really tall for 13 and the weight seems about normal. good luck

Your not to young to take protien. But you are to young to start taking a protien with any kind of creatine or muscle stimulant. They can screw up your joints because your not done growing yet and even though you seem like a pretty big kid you could hurt your growth plates. Also watch how much your lifting, you could also hurt your growth plates becase your so young.

Beef has protein; Chicken has protein;

Peas have protein; Fish has protein;

There is more than enough protein in our Heavenly Father's creation that is healthy for you.

In this context, If Man made it then avoid it.
The long-term effects of using man-made drugs just too risky and people don't want people in sports using drugs that give an unfair advantage over others who don't use those performance enhancing drugs.  It's not honest.

SIGNS OF THE END OF THE WORLD

And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Take heed that no man deceive you.  For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.  And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.  All these are the beginning of sorrows.  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains.
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house. Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that nurse children in those days!  But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day.  For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.  And except those days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Behold I have told you before.

Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth; behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the East, and shineth even unto the West; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall
from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.  And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And He shall send His angels with the great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree.  When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye. when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."   -St. Matthew 24:4-35

"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what
watch the thief, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.  Therefore be ye also ready: for  in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."  vs 42-44

                 Do You Want to Escape?

"And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord (Jesus) shall be saved."   Acts 2:21

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."   Acts 16:31

"Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else"   Isaiah 45:22

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life"   John 3:16

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me (Jesus) hath everlasting life."   John 6:47

No, taking 'protein supplements' won't help you and you shouldn't consider them until you are out of puberty (age 17) or the stuff inside there can mess you up.

Also, a work out routine is a bad idea if it involves weights. Its a really bad idea if it involves weights over 50 pounds. You get bad habits that are hard to break later and its easy to really hurt your performance later on.

protein doesn't do a lot if you don't have testosteronem i forget when that's supposed to happen.  I lifted weights endlessly whilst younger (no protein) but i didn't see any evidence of bulking up.  Wait until a year after notcing that lifting weights is increasing your mass at all.

Where is the beach?

ummm...no...hate to tell you sweety, but no matter what you look like or what your workout routine is, you are still 13. 13 is little young to be taking protein supplements. Besides, taking protein supplements is cheating! If you want to get in shape, do the right way.

I wouldn't recommend it yet.  At 13, your body hasn't fully developed or grown.  I would also be careful with your workout routine.  I'm certainly NOT saying "don't exercise" - but be mindful of the types of exercise you do.

If you're trying to bulk up muscle mass at 13, then it's likely to not happen, as your body simply hasn't reached that specific stage of development yet.  Your body is liable to not fully utilize the extra proteins and/or vitamins/nutrients that you would be supplementing to your diet.

I was a tall, skinny 15 year old - and tried all sorts of routines, supplements and extras to increase in muscle mass and athletic ability.  Now I'm 6ft3in tall and 220lbs, I do courses of protein, creatine and vitamins when in competition preparation training, but not for normal training.

So, my advice is to wait - probably until around 18, maybe later - before taking supplements.  Try increasing your diet (red and white meats, pasta, rice, carbohydrates etc) instead.

Don't take protein supplements unless you're a vegan or vegetarian and have issues with nuts.... If you need more protein just eat some  chicken or turkey or beef

No protein is perfectly fine for anyone at any age, just take it easy with working out, because it will def stunt your growth. just look at how some of the strongest people at school are always short. (short as in anything below you height )

You can take protein supplements as protein is already a heavy part of your diet found in many meats, egg and nut products. Protein has no negative side effects although consuming more than 15g in a single sitting is overkill as that is all your body can process at once.

IF!! you are happy with you current height there is no problem with you starting to work out at your age, however you may experience growth stuntage as muscle mass in young growers has been known to disrupt the growth plate of the bones. Consider toning and endurance muscles for now(high reps, low weight) and that will really come in handy for getting huge later when you can safely do heavier weights.

Protein is good for you, hope this helps and goodluck reaching your personal fitness goals:).

No, don't take anything yet until you are about 18, those supplements aren't good for you.
