this is a scenario question,
if an acidic sliver gave its fellow slivers "pay 2 (colorless) sacrifice sliver and deal 2 damage to target creature or player"
and a clot sliver used this ability to try and target a creature that was protection from black, would it be able to target the creature? or would the attack be classed as colorless due to the mana being payed to activate the ability is colorless?
also if it was sacrificed does this mean that it can not use its ability to regenerate?

Wouldnt you be able to regenerate using another sliver with the help of crypt sliver then *tap:regenerate target sliver*

When you activate the ability of a creature, the ability is the color of the creature the ability was on, not the color of the mana used to activate the ability.

When a creature has protection, it prevents targeted things. The clot sliver ability does not target anything, it actualy just grants individual slivers the direct regeneration ability for 2, so it works fine. The Crypt Sliver actualy says "regenerate target sliver", and so cant be used on a sliver with pro black, but since it grants that ability to all slivers, a red sliver could tap and regenerate the problack sliver.

Regeneration only prevents creatures from being destroyed. Sacrifice is not destruction.
