Have installed Suse 9.0. On starting x the screen goes black...

Have installed Suse 9.0. On starting x the screen goes black and switches off although Linux is running. This I have proven by simulating the Logout keys. I have a Proview 770 monitor and a 3D Rage IIC video card. Any help would be appreciated.

I have that problem on SuSE 9.0, i have a standard video card, my screen goes black and turns off, when linux is still on.
i installed it on a REALLY slov 133MHz PC, fine.
Installed on a 1.20GHz laptop with a LCD screen, and boom the screen goes black and turns off.
although YaST is fine on the graphical install. Please help! e-mail LeeT91@aol.com
