Unsupervised you must be 18 years of age. Technically if you are with a legal parent or guardian you can have a tattoo at any age with their consent - however, this is always at the discretion of the artist. You will note that now, many artists will not tattoo anyone under the age of 18, and in some cases 21 regardless. Do your parents/guardians know you are trying to get a tattoo? If so, get them to accompany you to the studio. If not, don't get one. The reason being that any studio that would tattoo an unaccompanied minor is going to be a back alley joint, and will NOT do a good job. Wherever you go, ensure that the artist has a health and hygiene certificate, and preferably a qualification in tattoo or skin art. These are widely available and now accepted in the industry as necessary in order to weed out the rogues.

im 16 and live in guildford i have 4 tattoos 3 stars on the inside of my lower arm and trible pattern and butterfly on my lower back. i had to have a parent/gardian with me to get it done

Would there be any chance of getting a tattoo at the age of 13?? I'm 13 and have parental consent but my dad (a police officer) says that you can't legally get a tattoo under the age of 18 with or without parental consent!!

im 15 n hav tattos n liv in lon but the person who gave u the last answer is right u need parental consent.. . my parents still dnt no n i hav 2 tats but its onli cos the person who did my piercins undastood y i wantd them.. tlk 2 ur parents bout why n get them to go wit u ...altho i hav 2 warn u tattoos on the shoulder n lowa bak hurt... gd luk

im going to be 16 in four months and im getting 1 for my birthday,,, the person who is doing mine lets you get one at 16 but only if u have a parent or gaurdian with you

I think u should be able to get a tatto only if u have a realitive whith u . But still some artis might not let u get a tatto even if u have a realitive whith u.They won't because they might still think u'rto young.

if your parents say no then have your friends cool older brother or sister to take you so you can get one.
