How do I check for the max tcp data packet size?  How do I interpret the output?  How do I tune it?

In linux you can view it in /proc/sys/net/ipv4. In that die there is a file tcp_wmem. In this file there are total 3 fields ( default,min,max) this is for send buffer. for receive file is tcp_rmem
