i want to buy a washer dryer stackable unit. It says it is 240volts. Can i plug that into a regular wall outlet without blowing a fuse?

Yes, it will blow the fuse. Plus, the dryer unit uses a 240V plug that will not fit into a standard 120V socket.

By regular wall outlet, if you mean a plug that you plug a (TV) into - NO! It has to be 240 volts across one up & down slot to the other & 120 across each up & down slots to the kind of round hole at the bottom of the plug. You should need both 240 volt plug for dryer & 120 volt plug for washer. The 220 volt plug will be in a wall box alone, with only one place to plug something in. The 220 Volt plug will have more than one place to plug something into. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

No, your regular outlet is 120 Volts. You will need an electrician to wire at least a 30 AMP 240Volt appliance receptacle at that location. This will probably require adding a breaker in your service panel,and pulling wire to the location. I'd guess $300 to get it done.
