I have been a type II diabetic for 20 years. If you need to go to the bathroom so frequently, it means that your blood sugar level is too high. Ask your doctor to review your medication. Buy glucose test strips from the chemists and monitor the sugar level in your blood or urine.

The cold and burning you are feeling is called peripheral neuropathy. It will be very persistent, but can improve a little with good control of blood sugar. Should check your blood sugar before each meal. You may get good relief with a longer acting insulin at night time. The reason you are getting hungry at night is because of a drop in your blood sugar. Do you eat a snack before going to bed. You should eat something with complex carbs and protein. It will last longer, and you should have fewer trips to the frig.

I am diabetic last 8 years. i use to be very heavy. After taking glucophage or metmorphin reduces my weight. Now I am not heavy at all. I do not make trips to my refigerator or pantry.Whenever I feel hungry i eat cucumbers or pickles or raw mangoes. Those are my snacks. Raw cucumbers are best for diabeties in my experiene. Try it and let me know if it works for you.

My Father died of diabetes and congestive heart failure.  In Feb. I had the founder of a company introduce me to his line of products.  One of them has the side effect of greatly reducing the Pain suffered by diabetic.  Many claim the pain goes away in an hour or less.  The product became available to the general public 5-1-04.  Too late for my dad But I hope it helps some of you.  By the way the founder of this company was insulin dependent for 5 years.  He began to take the product and has been off of insulin for the last two years, and his eye site has improved.  He's still diabetic but feeling much better.  For more information or a sample e-mail me at denalidale@msn.com

Hi, my mum was diagnosed with type II 4 years ago, since then I've had to teach her to read into food labels more carefully.  With alot of resisting temptation, shes got it under control, and to help with night time trips, drink less tea and coffee throughout the day and especially in the early to late evening!  They make even non diabetics pee more.  Hope that helps.

I have been a diabetic for almost 14 years. If you guys are going to the bathroom that much your sugar is high. You should really test before bedtime. Eat a snack if your sugar tends to go low. If not don't eat anything before you go to sleep, because while you sleep your not burning the carbs like you do during the day. A  lot of you seem like you don't know a lot about this disease. Check at your local hospitals usually they have diabetic classes that will teach you all of this stuff and answer all the questions that you have. I was Eight when I was diagnosed so I feel for your grandson.  Recently I have a friends seven year old daughter who was also just diagnosed. It's a hard thing to deal with but the better you learn to control it now will help you in the long run.

I was diagnosed with type 11 2 years ago,  Doctor has put me on up to 6 shots a day.  My level sorrows up in the 400 after breakfast, then drops after lunch.  I have lost 50lbs. I do not wake at night.  When I eat supper I drink 1 glass of water, and a sip before bed, make sure your kidneys are empty before bed.  That has worked for me.

Hi all

When i was pregnant with my son, the docs found out i was a borderline Diabetic, so they kept me monitered, after i had my son things stopped, no close montitering etc, through the years i became tired during the day, moody at times, etc....

I recently moved home and had to register with a new doctors, I had to have a medical, I have always suffered from urine infections, so thought i was going to get that answer back again! but this time i got 'Your a diabetic', she said that there was loads of sugar in my urine.

I have to wait to get appointments through etc, then take it from there.

My nephew was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 7 , who is now coming up 19, I went along with him to appointments etc when he was younger and learned a lot from just being there and observing, staying with him when he had to stay in hospital, i also know the signs to look for (pupils dialating etc).
My Nephew adjusted very well to having diabetes, and forever will be an inspiration to me. He is a fit young man, who lives life to the full, went through school, college, and now has a full time job.

He also has a talisman necklace.

I have learnt thats its just changes that take place, but changes that can make each day like everybody elses..

take care ~Buttons~

i'de just like to say a lil something well 4 starts I'm 16 Ive had type2 diabeties since i was 11 it sucks azz but u just got to deal. 4 the first 2 years  my sugar was under great control but then i didn't feal sick so i let it go 4 a while and  that went on 4 a while ide take care of my self then i wouldn't 4 a while  so on and so on but I've been in the hospital in the ICU  quite a few times and i see how i hurt my family and i don't want to do that. when your a diabetic you have to think differently like the glass is 1/2 full not empty. you know it could be worse you could have cancer or aids or some other deadly disease.diabeties is controllable it doesn't have to be deadly your not eating different then everyone your just eating how everyone SHOULD be eating. your not different and people always be saying if i had diabeties i would take such good care of my self but know-one without diabeties knows how it feels i hate it but its not gunna go away so i just have to take care of it and learn to deal with it. i feel 4 all the kids that got juvenile diabeties i know what their going threw but keep your head up its NOT the end of the world and a lil tip 4 parents of  type 2 diabetics DIABETIES CAMP  i loved it i went the 1st year i had diabeties and Ive been wanting to go back ever since and i know it costs around 7 or 8 hundred dollars but its well worth it and theirs so many sponsors and community or gs that are more than willing to help with the costs. well if anyone needs to talk or has any questions about diabeties just e-mail me at    Ttownchick07@aol.com
and just to let you know i am a normal kid i do everything the same as all the other kids i don't let diabeties hold me back and neither should YOU.      love always

kidney function is critical to diabetics, when you can at least once a month try to drink alot of fluids(coffee is a good dieretic) it will cause you to flush your kidneys this helps at night, My sugar was 270, now with just diet alone its 105
acceptance to diabeties goes along way to combatting it

It is very important to have good communication with your dr. If you have problems consult a dietician.Hospitals and some health clinics have educational classes that are very educational for type II diabetics. The key to any cronic life long disease is education. Diet and exercise are very inportant.

Diabetes is definately a hard thing to deal with. Diet, exercise, checking your sugar and keeping those "annoying" appointments. There are alot of symptoms that come along with being a diabetic so catch them early!Know what to look for. Ask your doctor the things that can occur. Everyone is different so what happens to one today may not happen to another til later. Example if I would have listened, I would have caught the diabetic neuropathy in time to control it. Instead I went on because my sugar was under control and I broke my foot and did not even know until a week later at a check up. Very important, no matter what the problem is, Talk!

I have a very caring and patient partner.I always have a snack at bed time and if I wake and my sugar is low, I drink a galss of orange juice - works for me.

I have type 2 diabeties.  I experienced bed wetting, extreme thrist, extreme hungry when my sugar was over six hundred.  My medication was increased and symptons ceased and I am steady losing weight.  I watch what I eat.  Think about it, if you cut out the sugar and salt intake the weight automatically drops off. Crystal Light is excellent!

Help, had a freind die.  Dr. said, she didn't take care of her diabetes.  I am now type 2 diabetes.  Have always hated shots.  Am 51.  Not taking care of myself.  Take pills when I really get in the mood, take a shot 1 or 2 times every 2 weeks.  Give or take.  Can anyone give me any help.  Where to look?    Mardi1997@aol.com

I am sorry about the grandson that has to take an insert in his stomach every three days, but he'll appreciate it later in life.  I have been a diabetic for 20 something years and in the last 2 years just got my pump and I love it.  It gives me more freedom to eat and control my blood sugars.  just be patient with the pump for now and be glad he dosent have to have 2 or more shots daily.

Hey everyone, I've been searching on the internet because over the past year or so I've been waking up 3 to 4 times a night usually extremely hungry and/or extremely thirsty.  Also this hunger is usually craving some sort of sugar like chocolate.  I haven't been diagnosed with diabetes but I do have a family history.  I've tried eating protein before bed as well as sleep aids but I still wake up 3 to 4 times a night hungry.  Any suggestions?
