The use of emulators for the PS1 was finally decided as Illegal in a court battle between Sony and the developers of a particularly well known emulator.

Regarding PS2 emulation the same matter stands - if you have a PS2, why do you want to play the games on a PC?  If you don't have a PS2, emulation is thoroughly illegal.  If you want to play import games, get an imported PS2 or modify your current PS2, if you want to play copied games this is illegal.  If you own the original game you are permitted to have a backup.

What If you have a PS1 but you lost the system and still have the games? Then is it legal to have a PS1 emulator

Some of us out there own a playstation and a pc at home.Your kids can play on the playstation while the adults want to play ps2 games on their PC, so why buy 2 games to play on each machine if we can have an oppertunity to play ps2 games on a pc.
Explain that?

yeah, I would like to play my PS2 games when i travel, and without bringing a monitor of some type with me i would be unable to. my notebook makes that possible.

well, i'min college, and i don't have that much room in my dorm.  Playing PS2 on my computer, would vastly make my life easier, not having to rehook up my ps2 all the time, but it would also make LANs much less of a pain in the ass, as we are all using a wireless internet LAN.

it is time for a change.it is time for microsoft and all gameing consoles to make it where it can be played on every machine.people are getting tired of spending all there money on games that half way work on the ps2 ect.they need to go back to when computer programs where just as tight as a defragmented computer

wondering what about having a mod chip on a PS2 is that good or bad and also if i do have a mod chip on my PS2 how and where do i download the games because i know of stores and people that own a PS2 that have a mod chip on it and play games that were burnt from the Internet
