This topic was covered but I still have questions. My cat(an indoor neutered male) has a urination problem. We have had him since he was a few months old, he is now 9 and has been urinating(not on the floor but rather ON the things) on all of our closet doors, stair landings, walls and radiators for about 7 1/2 years. Even tho we clean his messes and eliminate odor, he goes back to the same spot plus finds new places. Whenever we catch him in the act we yell "NO!" and spray him with a water bottle.  It scares him away but instead he runs away into another room to finish his business there.  He DOES NOT get the hint. Some things you should know : we have multiple cats but they all have their own litter boxes which are cleaned daily. We took him to the vet numerous times to make sure nothing medical was wrong with him and he was fine. It appears to be behavioral. He gets plenty of attention, toys/catnip, fancy feast his FAVORITE food and we even bought him a carpeted perch.  He also sleeps with my mother or with me in our beds. But still he continues to pee all over the house. This is a very big inconvenience b/c we have to replace 3 closet doors and radiators and have to have 3 bedrooms, our living room and staircase/hallway re-carpeted. We have had him for 9 years so I cannot imagine putting him to sleep or even giving him away.  What else is there left to do? 7 years of this is way too long and were losing patience fast. He's destroying our house.  Please help

I really marvel at your patience! However, if we love a pet, there is nothing we won't do for it. Try this: Keep a record of the times he pees. Next get a pet cage. Put him in the cage at about the time he would urinate. Keep him there till he has  done so,  then let him out and praise him. Do this for as long as it takes. Since it is a habit of 9 years , he is not about to change his behavior very soon.Make sure the cage has a tray at the base. Good luck
