What kind of bird??

In the last few weeks i'veseen a bird at my Finch feeder. Its a bit larger than a Yellow Finch, has a black head & Neck, White Breast, Black back & wings & Tail with some white flecks on these areas. On its neck & breast is a bright Red stripe{ Like a tie- or that someone used a paint brush and painted a red Stripe downward, just from where the black in the neck stops}. I've never seen this bird before, and only 2 times in the last week or so

I have also had a bird resembling the one you have described.  My mother and I are still trying to figure out what it is.  She seems to think it is a flicker of some kind!

If you find out please email me @ bjean19@adelphia.net and let me know what it is.

I think it's a red breasted grosbeak...we had one last year...gorgeous...they eat bugs.  I'm on the net now looking for a beige breasted bird with black and white feathers...a baby is in our bush!  Bye bye, Barb
