There is a sensor located on the rear axle, when it fails the symptoms are exactly as you post.

Both the relative speed of rear wheels and the speedometer are fed by a pulse sensor located over the differential case on the rear axle. It's very ease to change, just unscrew a bolt and remove by hand. Reinstall it the same way.  A little bit of oil over the O-Ring may help ease the sensor in place.  NAPA part # is United Parts #530778.  Cost about 10 dls.

I have the answer to your question.  Your Speedometer/Brake ABS Cable has become worn and isn't working anymore.  It's located on top of the rear axle housing and plugs into the top of the center-chunk from the passenger side.

More then Likely it is your speed senser on the rear differential, this will cause all prob. listed. This is an easy and comman fix and parts cost about 30 dollars. Hope this helps.

look up abs brake sensor. It was located on the rear differential on my 98 dodge ram. It costs less than $50 at the dealer and is very easy to replace.
