i need to know if you have to be born with shamanism ? or is it handed down from generation to generation ? and can anyone practice shamanism ?

I believe that shamanism is handed down from your ancestors or as you said, from generation to generation. Yes, anyone can pratice shamanism, but i think it will be hard.

In a way, the two things you're asking about are the same.  Hereditary transmission (the handing down) in most cultures is a function of both genetics and calling; a shaman's child may have inborn skills, but not want to practice shamanism, or vice-versa.  Genetics isn't a guarantee, though in many cultures it comes close.

Personally, I've found that hereditary shamans (of whom there are very few now, even in tribal cultures) have an easier time learning the skills and using the natural talents of the shaman, but that doesn't prevent those called without a family background from practicing - it usually means more work learning the core skills, though.  The calling is the key, whether one's ancestors practiced or not, because the spirits look far beyond genetics to choose those with whom they work.
