To confirm weather or not it is pure is to have the pedigree and title to the dog in your possession, and have seen the parents of the dog being breed that produced the litter. The other way is to send a DNA sample to the ADBA for analysis. If you don't have the pedigree and title for the dog more than likely it is a mutt.

If he is stamped Sunbeam or Mrs. Bairds LOL.
Most pure bred dogs usually have registration papers passed on from the breeder. But if your dog conforms to the breed standard than it is most likely pure, but may not enter into sanctioned events. Most true breeders look down upon unregistered back yard breedings. So try to by a puppy from a quality breeder.

I rescued a "pit bull puppy" from someone selling it outside a mall in the cold weather (the puppy was shivering). He told me the puppy was a pure bread but how do I know for sure? Weather he is pure or not we still love him very much... but I am curious to find out.   THANKS for all answers.

Your pit bull is not necessarily a mutt just because you do not have the papers or pedigree on it.i have a purebred pit bull without the pedigree on him but i have him registered the only reason i don't have his pedigree is because the owner of my puppy before me was too lazy to get the papers on my pit's parents and he moved away.my pit bull terrier also fits the breed standard.

u can tell if ur bullterrier is a mutt or not but if u want a pure breed dog of any breed u should find a good breder and if ur gonna buy of a back street breder then i should think it will be a cross breed but if u are looking for a pure breed then make sure u look around for a go breeder and dont go to any old breeder sometimes there not to good and mutts are not bad dogs they normaliy live longer and have moore of a healty life ....
