just took my dog to the vet with same. she recommended eukanuba fish & potato dog food. also gave her triple abx ophth hc 3.5g & allercept E-screen, histacalm shampoo & leave on conditioner. did i mention the resiprox? one is for her eyes.

she told me bischon's are great allergy dogs. hope to see relief for her within 48 hours. used bendryl also but it just wasn't cutting it this time.

a dif vet prescribed a steriod type med. but hated to have her on that.

It possibly is the food you are giving your dog.  Some dogs have sensitive digestive systems.  My Schnauzer had similar  problems.  I have her on "Lamb and Rice" kibble, bathed once a week with a medicated shampoo purchased from the vet and is taking "Derm-Tab" capsules (1/day) given before feeding.  She is now very well and happy.  I do believe what I have mentioned above will solve your problems.  Expect about a month's wait before you will see positive results and a happy, healthy skin- and coat resolution.  Hope this info helps.  It did for me.  Bailey did a 360 degree from itchy red skin, bacteria infection, ear problems to good health.  You have to keep your dog "medicated bathed" once a week ALWAYS and change the kibble to Lamb and Rice formula and use DermTabs before meals.  I promise you good results.

Neo Predef powder has helped my Bichon so much. The vet had me clean the area with betadine and then put on the powder.

My bichon still has some staph infection on his rear end. Now the vet gave me nalvasan (blue liquid - PetMeds has it) to wipe on. I tried for the first time today. Hopefully, it will clear up everything for once and for all. Rosemary

I have the exact same problem with my bischon.  He does exactly what your dog is doing.  It is really weird how they are a hyper-allergenic dog for people, but suffer from allergys themselves.  I've talked with numerous people who are very familiar with bischons and they say they do suffer from allergies, mostly in the spring/summer.  I deal with it like you.

It sounds like hot spots. My dog would do the same thing. Go to www.ravenpetproducts.com,, they sell the best shampoo and lotion just for this. My mom's 2 poms was the worst I have seen and this worked great.
