He'll probably end up between 4 and 5 pounds, both my girls went through a 'growth spurt' at around a year old.  Their weight didn't change much, but they 'leaned out', by which I mean lost the last of their puppy fat and became truly lean, active, muscular little dogs.

I usually recommend the book Chihuahuas for Dummies, which is the best book I have on the care and maintenance of these adorable little furry creatures.

Yes, it will probably get to about 5 lbs.  Especially if at that age, he's at 4 lbs.  Mine was also that weight at 6 months, and she is now 4.8 lbs at 1 year.
